As you may or may not have read in any of my posts concerning MW2, I was one of the PC gamers completely angered by all the um... "new and revolutionary" changes being implemented into IW's newest game, MW2.

Without further ado! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MdSwgKtSYg

After watching this video, do any of you think that IW will do anything to perhaps reduce this hacking? I know for a fact that VAC works in a delayed response method, allowing hackers up to 3 months of making other gamers miserable before getting banned themselves.

If this hack goes public, and someone who pays for it hosts it on a fileshare website, P2P, or whatever, that is going to be baaaaaad... for those who bought it at least.

Just a quote.. "Cheat / Hack Free Games: The biggest benefit of using IWnet by far is the fact that you don't have to worry about joining a server full of aim-bots, wallhacks, or cheaters. Or relying on the server admin of the server to constantly be monitoring, banning, and policing it. Modern Warfare 2 on PC allows us to control the quality of the game much more than ever before as well as utilizing the VAC (Valve-Anti-Cheat) system to keep games clean of hackers and cheaters."

Punkbuster may not have been the best, but at least once it detected something, that guy was OUT. VAC works well too, but efficiency it is nowhere near as close to PB for a game so easy to hack in like CoD.

Do any of you think that IW will fix this up? I don't. They have the cash, now they need to go buy their solid gold swimming pools!

ALL PC games have hackers. Another reason to avoid them and play console instead.

Punkbuster and VAC don't work at stopping them, I know this because I used to use an aimbot in TF2 for my own evil enjoyment (I don't play it anymore, don't worry, lol).

I'm surprised they got one out this FAST (probably re-used game code or something), but not surprised it exists.

Exactly my point. "Hey that guys a hacker lets get an admin to... oh wait... It's okay im sure this server has some form of a voteban func... god damn it"

Ever hear of that Pink Floyd song "Money"? One line describes this situation pretty well for me

"Money, so they say, Is the root of all evil, Today"

It's the red outlined boxes of every player. He knows where they are, what their doing, which way their looking and if I'm not mistaken, a quick input of what sort of gun they are using.

I'd think it's the fact that the user now knows where everyone is on the map at all times.

Sorry for the many quotes, but another point... Yeah, PB and VAC can be unreliable. That's why servers had admins, and votekick or voteban features to mop up the hackers that got by the anti-cheat program.

It is MUCH easier to hack on PC than consoles, as usually it is

1. Download file
2. Install into game directory
3. Have fun!

With console, more work was required, and many gamers are quite lazy... I'm not saying that MW2 is a bad game or anything, but I can almost guarantee that in a few weeks, hacks will be rampant, and since there will be more people online matching up to hosts could become easier... or even harder depending on how well IW.net is made.

I'll say it again, I'm damn glad I didn't buy it, and those arguing that IW.net works or is better... just argue against the hacking. Really there is no argument against it. Well except for "There probably won't be that many." But would you really believe that, once any hacks go public?

Ouch that's pretty bad. So much for IW.net getting rid of cheaters....

Given the quote, it's clear from IW's perspective that there is nothing to be fixed. At this rate I'll be snowboarding in Hell before they lift a finger to do any grunt work on the PC multiplayer.

COD4 for the PS3 was overrun a few months ago by hacks with flyers... they fixed that problem even though MW2 was coming in a month and a half... they'll do their jobs.

He's got a red/blue bounding box round all players on the map showing their name and range. He also seems to have a flawless aim but the omniscience wall hack is the obvious one.

Yeah, the difference being that for every 1 hack that the PS3 had for COD4, the PC community will be making... say 5 or 6, and also ones that are much more subtle and undetectable for MW2.

on console its so much easier to get banned because they have a huge amount of moderators gamers who have been asked by like psn or xbl to moderate and they are able to find a hell of a lot of hackers.

Well... alright then I'll fix it up by saying "if it gets caught, then it will be fixed." You know some dumbass will post their new hack on youtube, and then how to install it. Happens everytime. If the problem becomes big, the plus side is no dedicated servers so there is no running away into a new server. Even with dedicated servers the hackers were still all over, not contained to the "hack server". (I should probably note, this is more a "don't worry, they'll fix this" than a dedicated server rant.)

That is, if IW even bothers. The response they have been showing the PC community is appalling, and I wouldn't be surprised if they could less about this issue.

The hackers may have been all over in dedicated servers, but we had voteban and admins with human intuition, who saw something fishy with "1337M45T3RPR0"'s 35:1 KDR. If any hack becomes privately circulated among, say a really, really pissed off clan that had 100 people in it, who then showed it to their buddies who could keep a secret, it wouldn't be shocking to see up to 10 percent of the PC gamers hacking randomly in servers.
