I've seen quite a few threads of people asking for recommendations. This is often somebody who wants to get into Anime/Manga or wants to explore new styles of music. Responses vary from some of the standards that everybody's heard about (I don't even like Manga and have heard of DeathNote before) to some of the lighter work that would behave more like a transitional thing.
What I'm asking you, yes you, is to think about what forms of such arts you are well-versed in. Think if somebody were asking you to help get them into that culture, and what you think would be the ideal part of said culture to help them transition from what they know to the unknown of what they want to be a part of.
For example: If a metalhead asked me to help them get into jazz, I would give them Stan Kenton's Malagueña, because it's loud, huge sounding, and phrygian, and the closest jazz tune I know of to the style they know already.
