The Red Dead Redemption Thread.

A new trailer just came out for Red Dead Redemption, and I was surprised to find there hasn't been too much talk of the game here on these forums. This is an open-world game all about the Wild West - think open world, rural GTA with horses, cowboys, the whole package. This is a definite GOTY 2010 contender. This is Red Dead Redemption.

Rockstar Games has just released a new trailer showing the gameplay. On that same site is a cinematic trailer which I also highly recommend checking out - the game looks like a lot of fun.

One thing I'm most excited about is that you'll be able to go into every building, unlike GTA games of past. Also, you can choose to be a good or bad cowboy, you can duel with people, you can go hunting, you can get attacked by wild bears. The game just sounds so awesome.

The game releases 4/27/2010.

I'm beyond pumped for this game, I've always been a big fan of westerns and sandbox style games (westerns more so) so this is like a dream come true for me. Also is anyone else slightly puzzled/annoyed by the lack of good western games? it seems like an ideal setting for a video game

Oh I'm definitely excited for it. I'm quite fond of sand box games and I've much love for westerns! There aren't enough games with a Western settings nowadays.

It looks juicy. I was a huge fan of Red Dead Revolver and Gun even though they weren't fantastic (I just love westerns ) so I hope they nail it with this one.

I don't know why the genre hasn't been used more. Maybe the lassoing, horseback riding, etc, was too hard to pull off from a technical or design standpoint? Gun and Red Dead Revolver are a few games that come to mind, but I honestly never got around to playing those. This is by far my most anticipated game of 2010.

Like I said, one thing I really didn't like about GTA was how you couldn't enter the vast majority of buildings. This game is different - you'll be able to go into a lot of places, play minigames in saloons, etc. Just so much to do. It looks awesome.
