I've recently started playing The Saboteur, and although I quite enjoy it, the game went mostly unnoticed around here.

As such, I was wondering what the overall opinion was on this game, in this forum specifically. I won't make it a poll as I am looking for personalized replies on whether you like/dislike the game and why.

Many thanks.

I bought it a while back, and I also very much enjoyed it, painful accents aside. It was different enough to interest me, while still being familiar. Overall I really did like it quite a bit except for: very weak shooting controls, having to mash the jump button constantly to climb buildings, and the accents. But still, a very nice game that was overlooked for being "just another open world TPS."

I enjoyed it for the most part, however I found it to be sorta buggy. The most annoying of which - an apparent inability of the game to recognize my attempts to plant charges on bridges - making full completion of the game impossible, which is the only motivation to play after finishing the storyline.

I haven't finished it yet, damn university. Am I the only one going out of his way to only use a brace of pistols (magnum and silenced) rather than any of the bigger weapons?

I find it feels more realistic and challenging, I can be stealthy with the silencer or kill important targets one shot with the revolver but have to avoid any long firefights. Also it looks a lot better when a smug Irishman pulls out a concealable pistol rather than a huge rifle.

I liked the shooting mechanics. When I first shot that luger, it just felt right. Like I was holding a death stick in my hand instead of the standard "Pistols must be crap" pea-shooter.

The controls (specifically climbing and shooting automatic weapons) weren't to my liking, my spacebar took a beating every time I wanted to get to the rooftops and they felt a little unpolished and very . . . generic, I guess is the word (sorry, English isn't my first language, if this is an improper use of the word, please correct me).

I loved the music and how the colour returned to parts of Paris (+ its neighbouring towns and countryside) as I made progress, and being able to blow up nazi sniper nests, fuel depots and such (although I couldn't bring down L'Arc de Triomphe, Tour Eiffel nor Le Palais du Louvre). I also found most of the side missions to be glitchy and/or got the feeling they were unfinished.

But - goddangit, I like killing nazis!!! And in my opinion they made it fun enough for the game to be enjoyable despite the bad accents (I don't think the actors were bad, but perhaps getting an actual Irishman for the lead would've been a good start), and the thrill of jumping out of moving cars never got old.

It looked like a good game, but it was released around the same time as other better, more popular games, like Assassin's Creed 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and Modern Warfare 2. It just kinda got lost in the crowd.

I really enjoyed this game, the accents didnt bother me much except for the terrible german voice acting, since I actually speak german as my secondary native language. I don't know how a real irish accent sounds like so to me Sean sounded just right. I played the game with a xbox 360 controller and used the mouse for aiming and it was just perfect. The soundtrack has some great music, particularly the theme song by the swedish band Koop.

As for the gameplay, the cars had some decent handling and it was fun to plan and execute attacks on nazi targets because of the many possible approaches. The climbing was ok too, I really didnt mind having to mash the A button and I liked how I could fall from pretty high up without dying.

I like it. the terrible accents didn't really bother me all that much. what did bother me was the fact that the movement and especially the climbing felt unnatural. if you're going to steal AC's gameplay, at least do it properly... i mean how hard can it be to change the controls from 'keep pressing X to jump' to 'press X to climb onto a wall and then do not press X to not jump off again'. also the pedestrians are total morons... if there's idiots driving around your city (that is occupied by NAZI'S by the way), you just stay on the damn sidewalk! i think i actually killed more parisians than nazi's. or than the nazi's did XD. but it's their own fault for being a traffic hazard.
the characters are totally unlikeable (except for the ones at the belle de nuit ^^) and realism was one of the first victims in the war. i mean, where to start? bullets that dissolve into a healing salve in your body? superweapons? one guy taking on the entire wehrmacht by his lonesome? (resistance doesn't help most of the time). terror squads? zeppelins in paris?
but hey, it's still fun and i'll probably play it some more when i'm done with ACII again ^^

I loved it. And it's stereotypical accents.

I even managed to pull stealth off, despite Yahtzee's claims that its near impossible. Because Yahtzee sucks at the subtle approach.

Hell, sorry Furburt, but I love the main character.
