The "Screaming Children on Mics" Argument

I want to know where some of you people find these children. I play quite a bit of Blops multiplayer and almost never run into these kinds of players. I would like to though because the kids are usually stupid and rage hard. And like so many have said, use the goddamned mute button, it takes around 2 seconds and the effects are instantaneous.
Children are horrible. And lots of things should carry meaning. For example, elections should be fair and not tampered with in the Middle East. However shit happens. I doubt most parents "have the time" to research a game for their child, let alone know what the E.S.R.B. means, let alone stands for as an acronym. The tools for self-regulation are in place but no one uses them. I got Metal Gear Solid Guns of the Patriots as a kid because it looked cool on the shelf and my dad bought it without any grumbling, even when the guy at checkout asked him for an I.D. In that regard a lot of parents are the same and are willing to acquiesce to their children for a lot of reasons.Vibhor said:

I think its rather silly to assume every whiny idiot in online games is a 12-year-old. Are we forgetting that gamers are pretty immature people for the most part?
I blame the popularity of the game, the more popular a game is the more little kids want to play it, the same thing happened with Left 4 Dead, as soon as it started to gain momentum every other game was littered with children, luckily I got it on it's release and quickly got some regulars to play and chat with, so the only time I had to deal with kids was in the lobby, and even then we were usually in a party anyway, but they still managed to ruin each game by being so annoying that their older team mates rage quit, or they themselves rage quit because, well they're kids and that's what kids do.
Even if a mute button is involved, in PC games, there is usually a way for them to type something annoying and rude. Particularly if I happen to use my regular username, because its a bit telling that its a girl on it.
Lots of fun when you get to hear guys try to reason that whether I win or lose a match, I am a girl, so "u loose in RL".
Its gotten a lot better over the years, which I am thankful for, but still. Annoying when you find a few players have have to spoil the experience with other players.

It's not just kids that are the problem, I run into plenty of 20 and 30-something year olds who swear as much as, if not more than any child I've run into on that game(I can tell the difference between a voice changer and an actual adult voice). People in that game just seem a little over aggressive in general, probably because the fact that any gun can kill you in a split second and that any idiot who catches you blindsided will win is extremely frustrating.
While I will not deny the effect that irritating kids has on my enjoyment of a game, I do agree with you that they should not be taken into account when judging the quality of the game. A good game is good regardless of its fans. Same goes for shows and movies; a well-designed game is just that. The artists behind a video game deserve to have their work recognized for what it is, not for the douchebaggery of the people who like it.
ESRB rating are just guidelines they can't legally be enforced in most if not all countries.I personally think that an arbitrary age rating for a game is stupid there are plenty of people under the age of 18 that could enjoy mature game without being negatively affected or acting immature just like there are plenty people over the age of 18 who couldn't do that.I think the responsibility should lie with the parents and only the parents the ESRB tells them what is in the game they then have the choice to let their children play it if they think its suitable or not if hey don't.putowtin said:

I swear to god if I have to hear a raiders or teammates offspring crying bloody murder or yelling at something in the background while they're trying to convey something... But as I said, its rather rare now, which makes me a little more comfortable with online multiplayer than I used to be. Usually, its the kids, not grown men that do it. I usually chalk it up to childish issues with the opposite sex. Nowadays, whatever team or group that I am with in the game, behave themselves. In all seriousness, I come a large amount of players online with mics. some good, mostly bad. I will spark up conversations with them and they can be pretty swell people. It's just the game that ruins their attitude.

1. Person annoying on mic, Mute person. Problem solved.
2. Children are playing M for Mature games, apparently legislation prevents children from buying Mature rated games. If the parents buy it for them, then we can literally do nothing except when a mother attempts to purchase a M rated game for little Timmy, we bust in, grab the game, and run away...... See if you ain't gonna do that. There's nothing you can do. (See previous answer)
3. If you get a profanity filled message, block sender.
4. Hell, I'm 25 and I swear on the mic, usually when the same person kills me multiple times. It happens, I just turn off the mic and go off on my rant.
