The Secret World: pre-release & early access.

Despite having caused quite a stir in the trade papers over the last year or two, The secret World seems fairly unknown, or at least undiscussed amongst actual gamers. Take the hype surrounding The Old Republic for example, or Guild wars 2, both high profile games well-known prior to release.

Today's announcement that it's available for pre-order with a first come first served offer of early access (similar to games like The Old Republic, APB, & Funcom's previos MMO Age of Conan's launches) made me start to wonder:

How many people even know about this game? Is there really space for yet another MMORPG in the market, especially a subscription based one?

The secret world looks boring from what I have seen, especially the characters. People running around in sweatshirts and jeans, carrying around regular looking guns and swords, the classic hotkey gameplay. I'm just going by what I have seen. I haven't seen a video for that game in about a year. It does look like they are trying though, I just hope the game doesn't completely tank.

I actually love the concept, just, not as an MMO..............

I don't care for typical MMO type gameplay and it really seems like it would fit better as a single player/small scale co-op action/RPG type deal. It looked at first to be some sort of Occult Left4Dead type deal and then the trailer went on and I found out it was an MMO.

I know about it, but seems bland, can't find a reason to play it. Sides, all my hype belongs to GW 2.

Edit: I might be wrong though, like the whitewolf vibe of it, just don't see it working for a mmo.
