Whatever, just wash your hands.
so in the last month we have had pc games that had pretty shoddy launches, cod black ops and fallout new vegas (granted the 2nd one had a shoddy launch everywhere)
but I have to wonder if this was actually unintentional or not, I can completely see activision releasing a buggy version of a game to try and fuck with pirates then just patch it a few days after launch

what does the escapist think? shoddy programing or something more sinister?

Putting out shoddy games doesn't fuck with pirates, since the community can patch the games better than the developers themselves, so the pirates actually get better versions in the end.

Kind of a sad thought isn't it?
yeah but I dont think that would stop a publisher, after all, they kept putting annoying drm in games for the longest time despite the fact it really just annoyed consumers more then prevented piracy

I don't think it is any more insidious than we've got 2 years and 15 million dollars into this, it's coming out now.

I havent seen many of them either and really its to be expected from oblivion but a huge name like cod having a crappy pc launch? thats a bit weird, especially when you considered they had already pretty much perfected the engine to run well

I think it's apathy. As long as the game has guns, multiplayer, a well-known name attached to it, or a combination of any of those, it will sell. They'll just release patches as the issues arise.

Don't believe me on that? Why else does Kane & Lynch: Dog Days even exist? Furthermore, it sold better than the first one while being just as or even more terrible, which proves my point.

Its just shitty porting for some. "Since it works on this console fine which just has one configuration, it should work on the millions of people who own computers with different hardware perfectly. What can possibly go wrong?"...my logic.

It's just because everyone is in too much of a rush for the game to come out that they don't give the Dev. team enough time to polish it and work out the lesser of the bugs. I blame the impatient fans, not the developers.
