I know that the first thing most of us do when we get a new Sims game is make a guy or gal who looks a little bit like us and try and teach them to make macaroni and cheese without summoning the grim reaper.

Instead of the PC version, for Christmas my mother bought me a DS and the sims 2. It was okay as a game but I could only customise one character a little (I gave her brown hair and a black jacket and jeans) and I could choose between a few actions - all in all it felt a little bit too much like a sandbox game. I had to do things to progress, (though I could dress up as a rat which was pretty cool) and I unlocked areas by earning so much money for my hotel. I have always wanted there to be a thorough ?The Sims? experience on my X box (or Wii or Ds or PS3, no discrimination here). This is mainly because my PC has trouble running solitaire.

So riddle me this (if that phrase is applicable), how well do you think Sims 3 will translate across to consoles? Will it just be another Sims 2?

I personally don?t think the point and click approach will work on a console, and I can?t see how it will compare to the original PC version.

Let me know what you think.

And while we're talking about it, was the Sims 3 an improvement on 2?

I don't know about Sims on a console, because they always seem to come up with something completely different from the base game.

And in a lot of ways, Sims 3 fails to improve on Sims 2 or falls short of its ambitions.

Well, according to the official news post, the console versions will have something called Karma Points, that I guess let you do something automagically? And they've added Achievements, so there's that.

Sims 2 and Sims 1 are completely unplayable for me now. They're far too limiting in what you can do compared to Sims 3.

The Sims games on consoles don't live up to the PC version, or at least they don't for me. They always feel different in sense, and not in a good way.

I haven't played Sims 3, but I've heard it isn't too much of an improvement over Sims 2.

Yeah, the Sims for PS2 was way to bastardized. After that, I've never looked at any "made for PC" games on consoles again.... Unless you count Fallout and Oblivion.
