I'm sorry if this is not the correct place to post this but my copy of The Sims 3 is a bit fucked up..

The problem is this: http://screenshot.xfire.com/screenshot/natural/65c4a35400c83eacbf1d4d60cc38141285712764.png

I'm not the only one with this problem but I've tried the stuff I could find on yahoo answers but I haven't been able to fix this yet..

(Without the annoying glitches this game is a lot of fun though and I recommend it to everyone (even guys))

Gaming Discussion maybe?

Otherwise I have no idea how to help you. I don't own The Sims 3 but I haven't seen anything similar in the other two games.

I've been needing a recommendation

Anyway this is a common problem and for an answer you may need to try a website like tech support forum.

Yeah but what I've found so far is just people whose graphics cards weren't good enough (I have the HD4870 so that doesn't apply) and people whose settings were too high (put everything to low and its still here).

I also don't know how to call this problem in a google search (which may be the cause of me not finding anything relevant enough)

Have you tried re-installing? If that doesn't work, it may be a corrupted save file. Try starting a new game and see if its still there.

It's a problem in the graphics (probably my graphics card) but I have installed new drivers and jumbled around with the settings already..

Reinstalling is the most common solution i can think of. Have you tried it?

If none of my suggestions work, I'm stumped.

probably sims 3 triangles might get you something.

As I think this is a graphics card/driver problem I don't think that'd work, besides, there are too many people with the same problem for it to be an installation error..

It didn't. The triangles on screen aren't just random, they're certain objects' textures stretched out lots. No 'Sims 3 Stretch' didn't bring anything interesting either ;)

Well in that case, I'd wait for a patch. Or if you're impatient, you could demand a new copy of the game. (Odds of getting it are slim to none, but hey, at least you tried.)

Looks like a overheated graphics card. Or old drivers.
Updated drivers and shut down computer for like 14 hours so both can't be it.

Doesn't overheated graphics card mean its fucked up in every 3d game though? Because its just in Sims 3 for me.

No I got that in a Team Fortress 2 match. Can't remember exactly how...

Have put my (stock) overclocked videocard a bit lower, what's the best temperature for a videocard? (So I can test whether the heat is the problem)

EDIT: Will try again (temperature is currently 47 celsius as opposed to the 59 it was before)

I got that in so many games with my old graphics card. Can't remember what kind of card it was though, but it was generally sucky. I think it was one of those ATI, isn't it, the ones who can compete with nVidia, I don't know.

Didn't work =/

EDIT:

Found a post of someone who had the same problem, which was fixed when he reinstalled Vista. Will try to delete some leftover files and do defrag stuff, maybe that'll fix it..

Holy shit, I've never seen that before in The Sims 3. Try updating your graphics driver, your Direct X and making sure your specs are good enough.

EDIT: If you don't already have these you may want to try getting them as many games require them to run properly.
