When someone I know is having a proper crisis and they say that, I do the opposite.

I envy people who can seemingly shut down entire brain functions on a whim. I've got a really obsessive personality, so a lot of the time I tend to get hung up on smaller details, and I just start to pick everything apart and start driving myself nuts. I hate it, I would like nothing more than to just "stop doing it", but I can't control it.

"You wouldn't understand" is a good one. Nothing like implying that your logic exists on a higher plane that the other person couldn't possibly interact with.

My girlfriend and I both agree that one phrase in particular needs to die in a fire made of zombies on fire:

It's the defeatist cry of lazy fuckwits who never did anything, won't do anything, and will never be anything...because (DUR!) it can't be helped! (Whatever it is.)

This one. SO FUCKING MUCH! As strange as it sounds, going to my college and being a Christian makes me feel very ostracized, especially because of people telling me/my friends this about my beliefs. I never said the same to them, so I do not feel like I deserve that treatment. It's almost always used in a mean-spirited fashion, and rarely is it said by someone NOT involved in whatever it is you're upset over.

I usually hear "First world problems" in a sort-of joking way. You know, in regards to actually trivial problems, and often to the problems of the speaker.
It is rude as fuck though to imply that just because there is somewhere someone suffering more, you can't complain about anything. I'm pretty sure that, by that logic, even someone starving to death can't complain because somewhere there's someone else that's starving to death while on fire. It's just ridiculous.

Dayum, everyone's chosen the good ones. It's not the most destructive, but I would nominate "fair enough" as being particularly annoying to me. It suggests the person has no interest in what you're saying and has nothing to contribute. And then the conversation just grinds to a halt.
