Meh, it gets annoying after being overused by so many teen girls, but whatever.

Considering that facial expressions and tone of voice can not be transmitted via text, they can actually be quite useful. I have no objections to them.

I like having an ambiguous tone et cetera though, so I tend not to use them.

Not had much use for the standard :) emoticon, maybe after a sentence which could be read as aggressive or something but there's usually a better one.

It's funny how :) originally denoted a joke, but I wouldn't read it that way nowadays. I'd tend to use ;) or :p for a joke.

I happen to like teen girls, thankyouverymuch, its pretty much the only social group I get along with (oh yes, I feel like a pimp right now)

OT: its ok, I prefer ":p" though, suits my style better.

The problem is that most of my IM/Steam messages have a :p in them, else I sound like a dick.

On a side note, the C: and D: drives are the happiest and saddest drives in existance

Wasn't it created in Seattle? If so, then, WOOT WASHINGTON!

OT: Idk, I think that it actually changed art in its own way. It gave a little symbol that many graphic designers use today.
