Of course if you hit on a skilled Player with a Sniper they can make your Life a living Hell quite literally, because they can use even their Weaknesses to their Advantage usually. I mean while you sport superior Firepower closeup, one well-placed shot can still take you down and i dont mean Headshots but simply a direct hit with any Sniper. Unless you play CA, where Automatic, Semi-Automatic and Bolt-Action Snipers have differences, because while Full Auto are far more accurate, they boast less stopping Power than a bolt-action and vice versa. Semi-Autos are a mix in between.Virus0015 said:*Snip*
I think the real reason people hate snipers is because they see their strengths alone, and do not take into consideration their weaknesses. Unlike other classes, the sniper is very specialised. Yes they may be stupidly awesome at ranged combat, but they suck at everything else.
Now kids, have fun, and if you get killed by a dude wearing leaves just be a good sport and kill him right back.
Oh Godwins law, when will you ever not be right? Well one of the best ways to counter snipers with better snipers ,yes I know it can devolve into sniper duels but if the enemy snipers are preoccupied with your snipers then your teammates can circle round and attck them while the snipers give covering fire.TinCynic said:"A disgusting mix of Hitler, Satan, and Fred Phelps".
Yes... he is absolutely right and I'd love to share a beer with him. Snipers in real life? Sure... do what you gotta do. In real life, snipers are a essential part of any warfare. But in a competitive multiplayer game? No... no thanks. There is no honour in sniping. If I can see you and you can see me (both in same range) then it's a fair fight and I'll enjoy it whether I win or lose. If I can't see the dot on the other side of the map spawn camping me then the game = shit.TinCynic said:I was discussing multiplayer with one of my friends lately and he kinda went into a tirade about how he despises snipers in any game and considers them "A disgusting mix of Hitler, Satan, and Fred Phelps". I don't remember the whole thing but I do remember his Sniper Principle. I don't know if this has been said before but I thought I'd share it.
The Sniper Principle goes as follows:
1. The odds of having fun in multiplayer is indirectly proportional to the number of snipers on the map.
2. If a sniper can ruin a good match he will make every attempt to do so.
3. Any class given a sniper rifle, motion sensor, and mortar strike shouldn't be called the "Recon" class. Just rename it the "God" class and be done with it. (He said it only applies to BC2)
I thought this was funny, but couldn't decide wether he was right, so I just wanted to hear what other people think about it.
Tf2 is masterfully balenced. Play bad company 2 for 2 hours and then get back to us.Ultratwinkie said:coward? it takes balls of steel to be a sniper. you have to sneak and if you're found, you're dead. if you take someone on close quarters and win, you have balls of gold. TF2 taught me that.TheYellowCellPhone said:I HATE snipers in games, mostly since I'm one of those insane people who love close quarters. I agree with his statements, I loathe snipers, no matter how much skill it takes to be good with it. I always view them as cowards, and never be a Sniper because I know how bad it is to walk to an objective for five minutes only to be instakilled by a person taking potshots on a hillside, micspamming about how he has skills.
Or Counter-Strike, with its overpowered AWPs. /rant

They're under 'Support', which means they're a 'Support' character and they 'Support' their team by taking out enemies at a distance.Doctor Glocktor said:I always wondered why snipers were in TF2.AjimboB said:TF2.The Amazing Tea Alligator said:Snipers turn FPSs into boring point and click games. I rest my case.
I mean, it is TEAM fortress.
EDIT: I think that all games should make it so one hit kills with sniper ONLY happen when you headshotKukakkau said:While there is definetly an over abundance of snipers in a lot of major titles your friend seems to ***** for his country
1. A team full of snipers will almost never win a game even if they are annoying (won't go for ojectives and will get mowed down by automatics in close quarters)
2. Being shot by a sniper ruins a match? what?
3. Bad Company 2's sniping requires a fair bit of skill and patience to do (talking normal mode) since you have to take really take the bullet drop effect into account for those long range shots and be patient - the thing that makes me love sniping in that game on certain maps. Mortar strike is hardly godly - it's only really useful on still targets unless you can predict the enemy's movement. And while motion mines do give you advance warning to enemies sneaking up on you they will likely have an assault rifle and you have a pistol to defend yourself with - levels that playing field slightly but not much
You have my full respect good sir.AjimboB said:
My feelings about snipers, perfectly expressed in one picture.
No matter what game it is, most snipers just stay in a single spot and camp the crap out of it. You always know where they are, so it's easy to flank and kill them. The only people who hate snipers are those who are too lazy do find and deal with the cause of their frustration.

It's called "The Medic Principle."
1. The odds of having fun in multiplayer is inversely proportional to the number of medics on the map.
2. If a medic can ruin a good match he will make every attempt to do so.
3. Any class given a LMG, health packs, and defibrilators shouldn't be called the "Medic" class. Just rename it the "Jesus" class and be done with it (since you can raise people from the dead).
See?
