Let me preference this by saying I played Buzz Aldrins Race Into Space(BARIS) way back in the day and am currently enjoying Kerbal Space Program(despite my terrible record at killing Kerbals).

I've seen good things Space Engineers, though don't know too much about it other it being like KSP but without the launching/landing bits and with weapons. Buzz Aldrins Space Program manager, however, I haven't seen much about.

So my questions are:

1.) Is Space Engineers worth it alongside KSP? How is it specifically better/different then KSP?

2.) Is Space Program Manager worth the purchase compared to BARIS? I'm especially curious hearing from people who played both BARIS and this new game.

Appreciate the feedback.

space program manager is easy to pick up and very much a management simulator, you get cut scenes for events like launches but everything is random number generator based, all up a fun game if you like that sort of game.

space engineers, is definitely worth picking up along with kerbal space program. space engineers is very mine craft in space, its not hardcore like kerbal, you dont run a launch program, you just start in space, start mining and building what ever you want. plus the developers update every week like clockwork, this is how an early access game should work

Yeah um, that's not a fair comparison either, but I would say space engineers is more minecraft for spaceships than kerbal space program.

Though there's a lot of technical and mechanical things you can do in space engineers, at it's heart it still seems to end up looking like putting together a spaceship out of blocks...

Very different to KSP, but whether you'd like it off the back of it being a space game is another question...

I am almost entirely alone in this, but I don't like Space Engineers, at least at the moment. The menus for equipment and items are horrible, crafting is slow and tedious, and once you have a big scary spaceship there's not much to do with it unless you have access to a PVP server. Exploration is more or less nonexistant except on servers where other players have built stations; it all feels sort of lifeless. Performance and netlag are also terrible but I'll overlook that because it's under way.

OTOH, you can build a huge wall of drills then slowly fly it into an asteroid and eat your way through while the server begs for mercy, and that's sort of cool.
