A friend and I recently re-watched Yahtzee's SSBB review. when he started talking about 'that guy who's so much better than everybody else coz he plays it on his own, the looser' my friend turned to me and said 'thats you' and i couldn't argue. i do play it on my own, i do (sort of) seek out other 'that guys' although i'm still waiting for my free t-shirt and cat ears.
who else, here at The Escapist, is a 'that guy', even if it isn't on SSBB?

on a side note, are there any SSBB 'that guys' here who would be willing to trade Wii numbers and have an online fight?

Power Stone 2. I still get out my Dreamcast for party plays occasionally and although most of my friends remember how to play it reasonably well hours of game with my brother still mean we're indestructible.

Doesn't carry on to Choo Choo Rocket though, sigh.

And on the topic of Wii, Wii Boxing. No one can take me in my group of friends. Some of the better ones get a knock down, rarely though!

I could be considered an SSBB "that guy", although I only got my Wii recently and am yet to hook it up to the internet. Oh, and I can't actually guarantee that I'll ever have a proper internet connection for my Wii, considering its position (a house and a flight of stairs away from the router).

Anyway, I'm off to finish completing all-star mode with every character.

I'm "That guy" with every single game I own. I know, it's sad. I just don't have anyone to play with.

Im 'That guy' on Supreme Commander on the 360, EU version though :(.

Pretty complex game and after reading some guides by the pros and playing it on PC, the headstart I had was HUGE.

But I stopped playing it when the only people I could get a game with was my friends -.-

When me and my mates have CoD4 lans, i'm 'that guy'. I'm not really one to toot my own horn but i play that game far more often than my friends so it stands to reason i'm better equipped. Definitely not 'that guy' when it comes to fighters or racing games, which i welcome, love a challenge.

Call of Duty 4 for me. Although I wouldn't consider myself as a "That Guy", in the Yahtzeeian definition of the word. I don't even own the game. Still; I always end up at the top of the charts when I play it.

I'll have to put down Burnout 3 as well. Play(ed) that game too much. Nowadays I just breeze through every level, leaving my buddies behind eating dust.

I'm "that guy" on things like God Hand, DMC3, Viewtiful Joe, Fire Emblem, Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation 2 (let's see if anyone remembers it. I cleared the game on the hardest difficulty, and it's a fairly hard game even by SRT standards.)

Most of these games have a pretty hardcore gaming audience they cater to, so it's not as though I'm saying I'm the best in the world, just that there's NO WAY any of my friends are even remotely as good as me.

I recently played my copy of SSB (the original, which holds up wonderfully) with a friend. Now, he was a great Melee player. We were about equal, with him being perhaps a bit better. I was a Falcon/Marth/Shiek player, and he used people like Ganondorf, Bowser and whoever else he felt like. He was also pretty good at the original SSB, back in the day. Neither of us had played either game in a long time, so we were equally rusty. I don't really know what happened, but I completely kicked his rear up one side of the street and back down again. I beat him with pretty much every character, including Jigglypuff.

Oh, I was also "that guy" in SC2, back when that game was popular. I was a Cervantes player.

I used to be that guy with SSBM. I didn't see it as a bad thing, still don't. I 100% that game. I was also that guy with Mario Kart:DD, I had a record of 1:06/8 on time-trial on baby park. I thought that was all right considering the official world record was 1:15 at the time.

I'm "that guy" on Guitar Hero and Rock Band (except drums). Also considered "that guy" on DOA4 and Soul Caliber 2.

I'm definitely "that guy" at Brawl, but only when I'm really trying. When I play with friends, I usually take it easy on them to keep things fun. Winning's not really everything to me, so I don't have a problem with letting them think they're beating me.

My brawl code is 1246-8384-3956, if you ever want to fight. Not sure how good the odds are that we'd get a match up and going uninterrupted, but yeah.

I'm that guy on KOF02, Castle Crashers, and I used to be that guy in SSBM, but me and my friends are pretty much all equal these days.

If being a "that guy" requires that you play multiplayer games on your own, then that's generally not me. I am better than most people when it comes to Smash Bros., Mario Kart, etc., but definitely not a professional player or anything. However, when it comes to single-player games I pretty much try to destroy them; I do optimised character leveling, 100% completion, play the game five times through just to see every little optional thing, etc.

I'm that guy, with my friends, all the people I play against, even online people...
I guess its what you get for playing 30 hours straight... Twice... In a week...
Clocked it utterly and completely, all trophies, stickers, and those crazy boxes
Plus I didn't use any golden hammers
...
I have no life

oooooh good people to play with... sadly, my wii gets no reception as my dad has set up large sheets of tinfoil to "boost the signal" of the wireless devices in the house because he cant tell the difference between a repeater and a faraday screen. that and i use non-whatsitcalledable symbols in my wireless passwords ><

but i used to be at the point where it took three people to have a good chance at beating me, if thats what you mean. (this could just be because everyone in my neighborhood was pathetic, which is entirely possible)

I'm one of those "that guys" at Brawl. At least amongst my friends. Unfortunately, unless you live anywhere near me, you won't get a shot at playing me, because I refuse to play online. It's laggy, and it's simply not fun.

I'm the 'That Guy' for RTS, DoW specifically.

Once you've broken the cheating, accelerated assholes of the Insane AI, human players (with their predictability, mistakes and lack of sheer tier-rush perfection) simply fail to offer a challenge. What's that? Guardsman rush? It looks like your HQ is already burning!

They don't play with me anymore.

It's Ok. I can take two insane bots now. Sometimes i can hear bonesinger catchphrases when everything is quiet.

I can stop anytime i want.

-----------

In terms of SSBB.

I know about 4 'That guys'. Which is good, because until we found a 4th i was sick of dying like a ***** every 15 bloody seconds. Is it because i play gannondorf and link? I just love those characters. Gannondorf has the God-elbow! How am i to resist!?

The 'That guys' all play fast, jumpy little characters. But i live for those rare, rare moments when my doom-elbow connects, and blows their pansy asses out of the game and onto the PC where they weep once again in the face of the advancing craftworld forces.

Bring on DoW 2.

I have Tyranids to master.

I'm sort of 'that guy'. Maybe a part-time 'that guy'. See my two brothers no longer really play video games and so if we were to play each other it would be very embarassing how much I would beat them by. Embarrassing for them...or me? Probably me.

But yes, only 'part-time' because my friends aren't video game retarded like my brothers.

SO yeah, I'm 'that guy' of about 3 people. YAY for me.
