Steam sales' been a bit shit this year. I've bought nothing at all so far.
How many of the games on sale do you own from previous sales?

Be honest...
Honestly? Just the one, X:com Enemy Unknown. My PC gaming collection mostly consists of all the Total War series and The Witcher 2. Neither of which I bought in the sales.

Though theres still time yet I guess.
This seems more like an indicator of your tastes, not the Steam sale being shit, particularly "this year".

One day 1$ is still not low enough.
That's kind of how I feel.

Right now COD:Ghosts is $30. Normally that would be low enough to seriously tempt me. The problem is that I've heard just how shit it is, so I'm not buying ghosts until it drops to $10 or less.

I still haven't bought Aliens: Colonial Marines and it was on sale for $5 a week or so ago.

I especially like the "Game You Bought Last Week: -99%" and "Actual Garbage: Still too much".

Only having a $300 laptop that can't run shit is a blessing during Steam sales.

You know, once you have a list of 20+ games bought as a sale or in bundles not net played (but intending to play) and an equally long list of games you'd instantly buy at full-price once you have the time to play them, the steam summer sale loses its appeal somewhat. Though -75%/5? deals are still quite alluring (fell for Dark Souls).

By now when I see a game at -50% I now skip the sale, because buying it later, when I actually have the time to play it, at full price will still be cheaper long-term than continuing to build my back-log of unplayed games :)

I've bought a handful of older games I've wanted for quite some time, but overall I agree that this year's sale has been very underwhelming so far.

I thought the best deal was Wolfenstein The New Order for 30 bucks. It just came out. However, I don't feel like downloading 50 gigs, so I'll be getting it on disk sometime.

Other than that, I've picked up Delver, Cloudbuilt, Sleeping Dogs, Tomb Raider, Skull Girls, Outlast, Betrayer, and Analogue A Hate Story, all around the 2 to 5 dollar mark.

The people who are saying the sale is complete shit, either already own what's there, or aren't interested in what's there.

But I can understand not wanting to purchase something like COD:Ghosts or other similarly meagerly discounted titles.

I don't know why, but I find skeleton Erin with eyeballs and hair intact to be the sexiest illustration of Erin yet.
