I love their response to the censorship. That shit is comedy gold right there. Stay class Matt & Trey.

Scenes sound awful, thats for sure.

But crying koalas, sounds like the next Starbound release, sure to infuriate everyone.

Can you please at least try to distinguish between 'Australia' as a collective nation, and the Australian government? Would be nice.

When did alien probing jokes become offensive? Those jokes are old as shit, why arent they allowed now?

Because it's happening in a video game and that's just not acceptable.

OT: I like my country but I am awfully sick of our classification board. They are very confusing. GTA V got an R rating and the only reason given on the box is drugs. No mention of the nudity, violence etc.

You live on the most deadly continent in the world. Every plant and animal can and will kill you if you take too many steps outside. The center of it is a scorched wasteland that puts Fallout California to shame. And animated anal probing is what causes concern?

I don't get Australia at all.
It's cause our government is scared of gays and abortion. Like, both major parties are so passive anti gay marriage and somewhat passively scared of women having choices that it's really, REALLY strange.

I couldn't imagine that or deal with it without vomiting or recoiling in horror, and, if I was in that position, I would probably do the same without second thought.
I have to ask, is this exaggeration or are you really that badly effected affected by a game with such unrealistic looks?
No, but I have a semi-vivid imagination, so I can imagine just how godawful such an act would actually look. I suppose they didn't see a joke, they saw what it would look like if that happened with flesh and blood humans, because, for them, those things are stand-ins.

Kinda entertaining, no one bats an eye when people complain about "America" like we are some sort of hivemind, but when it is done against other nations people get upset. Dont worry, I am sure the mods will come along to slap a warning on Metal for calling Australia stupid, I got one for calling the UK a joke (I even appealed and got told it is considered flaming to make fun of other countries). Its fine to make fun of the US, but entirely another if you make fun of other places.

OT: An entertaining solution to be sure. I really hope the uncensored version has an unlockable australian mode just so I can check the stuff out as well.

It's posts like this that make me which these things had a 'like' button. This same thing came up in the previous news item about the southpark censoring, with someone (I really don't feel like digging around in another thread at the moment, and I'm not wanting to name someone directly anyway, bad manners and all) doing the "there's a difference between the government and the people in OUR country, please respect that" thing when absofuckinglutely nobody makes that distinction in their 'murica rants.

Yes, we all have out of touch governments full of stuffy old rich assholes who are slowly being dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century. The people =/= The government in most cases in the world today. If people of other nationalities would make that distinction when referring to the United States, I would be more than happy to start giving them that benefit. In the meantime, I'll put it the same way as someone would if they were making comments about the United states- as a nation, you continue to vote for them. You're the only reason you're censored. Do something about it. We don't have that problem over here, as we have a founding ruleset directly created to make sure the government is checked against this kind of thing- that old moldy document y'all keep saying we should change to adapt to the modern world. Still seems plenty relevant to me.

Well, if I still decide to get this when it's released, I'll be looking at OzGameShop for a UK copy like I did with Saints Row IV. However, the way they decided to handle the Australian version almost makes me want to get a local copy.

Are you done?

Having been to the USA twice, I'm not the sort of person to tar the whole country with one brush. Heck, I wouldn't even tar the whole government with one brush, given that it's a massive entity with many different legislative branches that don't all communicate with each other.

However, if anyone wants to rag on our pathetic excuse for a government, go nuts. I'll join you.
