I think either would be scary, however, I generally have creatures in my nightmares, so nothing to worry about when I wake up.

I used to have a nightmare where I was locked inside a purple monster truck headed for a giant grinder machine in the middle of a desert.
There was also another where there was some sort of giant demon monster thing in a big underground fiery hell-like place that sent out his invisible spies of doom to the surface to kill everyone.
Thing is they dont kill people directly, they stay near someone and they quickly go insane and start attacking everyone.
These dreams happened a fair bit, and were damn weird.

i remember a fragment of a dream where i pull a dead body out of a closet, i dont recal what he actually looked like but i know it wasnt a new face it was someone ive seen in real life
the dream ended after that but the next time i saw him was on a train where he chased me around it, i killed him in the dream but again he showed up in another chasing me around an underground tunnel that led into my house, up my stairs, and into my room where in now typing this
the last time i saw him was in a different dream i have more of a recollection of
it starts off in my house and moves to show a man in a tranch coat holding a knife, i know its the same guy i cant explain i just know
and he carries a bomb something i know will do a terrible thing, i get a vision of the explosion splitting the earth in half, i find my dad with a few of his friends on a dock telling them someone was after me and him
he appears about 40 feet away and one of my dad's friends starts arguing with my dad about whether or not he seemes dangerous just after which he is stabbed and killed
we run home and i find the bomb armed and ticking in my kitchen
honestly the next part is wierd as i try to disarm it my brother walks in and i dont know what happened it was like a dream inside a dream as i suddenly switch to some wierd fictional sitcom about spiderman marrying a mermaid
i suddenly awake inside the first level sleeping against a fridge five seconds before the bomb is to explode i throw it outside and know i am about to die without a doubt and i let out a cry as the world is completely destroyed because of me and that demon that stalks my dreams

Recently I had a dream where there was no visual to it, only a random, deep, booming voice that yelled "YOU!!!!!" at me once.
A quick summary of the most recent nightmare I remember: I was part of an organization that tracked down and rounded up some of the world's most evil serial killers, and the one we were after in my nightmare had committed his first murder at age 6. When we found him he was changed to a wall, his skin was completely burnt and charred, he had a metal plate nailed to his face, and he spikes and shards of metal coming out of his body. I still have a perfect image in my head of what he looked like, and it still creeps me out whenever I think of him. Also Ian Mck

Well my most recent one I can't remember, but I do remember one where I was trapped under the claw of a large dragon. He was talking to me and then breathed flames all over me. I woke up in a cold sweat. It's not that scare now as most of my nightmares don't revolve around some monster like that. Instead they usually feature someone or something slightly off and disturbing. This, thing, is usually comeing after me and I'm trying to get away. I've woken up pretty freaked out by these nightmare though I can't remember much about them. Perhaps its because I read some stuff about the Slenderman that one night, jeez that kept me up for a good couple hours past when I wanted.
The only nightmare I can remember ( and I haven't had one I remember since...middle school?) is I was looking through my old apartment with just the hall light on, and I look through my parents doorway and two small, pale asian kids are standing there just looking at me. Just...staring. nowhere near as creepy as the other ones but I don't really dream so that kinda limits my options.
I actually just had one and I can't get it out of my head.
I do have a recurring dream. It's simply me hanging from the spire of the Empire State Building and waving like a flag. Yep, I do have a fear of heights.
It's dark and I arrive in some dim lit warehouse with my hands tied. A man comes and drags what must be barbed wire across my back and then tells me I have two choices. I can serve him for ten years then be released or I can try and find my way out. I'm able to see both paths in my dream, the first of which I stay for the ten years. During that time I have to allow myself to be strapped down while the man tears into my flesh with various barbed and bladed instruments. I also have to set up and repair other devices around the place, things that looks like traps of some sort. For some reason, I end up respecting the man by the end and don't want to go, but I have to (stockholm syndrome?). As I'm released, I just feel disgusted with myself.
Then I see the way if I try to escape. I'm not alone this way. There's many many people. Some are new and run, trying to find the way out. Some aren't careful and get caught in the traps like the ones I made in the first part of the dream. The people get absolutely mutilated and scream in terror. Other people have been there for a long time but still haven't made it out. Out of these, some give up and only try to kill or dissuade the newcomers who still have hope. They walk around talking about their regrets or people they used to know. Others just kill themselves and get it over with. Everything just feels sad and hopeless. In this part, I go through a doorway and stumble into a trap and die. Then I woke up.

The only monster in my nightmares I can remember having to actually go out of my way to avoid would be a big, pissed-off Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Usually, I fall into the nightmare scenario on the tail-end of some other dream, and am aware that Rexy is on the prowl. It's one of those awful situations where your standing right near the thing, but IT doesent know exactly where YOU are, so if you try and make a break for assured safety, he finds you and comes stomping after you. I'm always stressing, trying to maintain these tiny barriers of safety like a few flimsy trees or a sheet of scrap metal to protect me from the set of roaring, gnashing teeth.

OHHH nightmares! I have them constantly, all the time. I have such strange dreams, and usually they can be sort of connected to an incident or conversation I had earlier that day/week/month, etc.

I was at a gig on my own and I was invited backstage to hang out with everyone including my favourite band of all time, I was so excited. I got backstage and we were all just hanging out, there were like 30 people there and there were drinks. Next thing you know, there's a guy stumbling through the backstage area with this huuuuge head injury, apparently this guy had taken a baseball bat and hit him round the head with it. I know first aid (in real life and in my dream) and so I start trying to help him out whilst my favourite band say "see you later dude" and just walk off to go to the pub. I start running around frantically trying to find a first aid kit and when I do it has nothing useful in it and so I manage to make something out of my tshirt and patching him up and then this guy comes out and goes, "well done, you've passed the test!". I just sat there looking at him going... "er, what?!" and he says "you've passed. we set this up to test you" and I start screaming at him going "who the hell would ever do that to someone just to test me!?" and then I wake up...
Another dream I had recently I was in my bedroom (though it wasn't my bedroom) and I wasn't feeling well and then I couldn't really see. I kept blinking and then my eyes were being filled with this dark colour liquid and I kept trying to blink it out, so I ran to the mirror and looked and there's blood pouring out of my eyes so I keep blinking and I start trying to explain to my friend that there are cuts in my eyelids and I can't get rid of the blood so they calla doctor. In the meanwhile, I start wandering around the house looking for tissues when my mum tells me theres a baby deer in the garage that she wants her photo with. So I'm looking around (mysteriously okay now) and there is one so me and my mum pick it up and attempt to take photos but there is no camera so I have to search for the camera... which I then can't find cos I'm partially blind again and my mum is shouting at me cos she desperately wants this photo but the deer is going to run away...

As a child I had recurring dreams of a faceless man (as in featureless, except dark, sunken eye sockets) who would stand under the tree outside my bedroom window and stare. I remember in the dream I knew he/it was standing out there, waiting for me to peer out of the window, and as soon as I did I would feel that face next to mine. I just remember those dark sockets inches from my face and then I'd wake up. Haven't had that dream since I was twelve...
I already had several nightmares with that girl in black with that toy in the hand in that corridor of that picture...

I trained myself in lucid dreaming (a technique to recognize and control dreams) a while back, so nightmares are not a problem for me.
When I was young, I used to have a recurring nightmare about a bull chasing me. I never actually saw it, but I knew it was chasing me.
