Welp, either way, it was a very interesting journey. Very well done. It was fun to see it unfold like it did, even if it did end slightly prematurely.

I do hope that Bethesda take a few notes, if they're still in the part of the process when you can do that.

(But I guess getting people excited over something that then turns out to not be true is some sort of victory, or rather defeat on the previously excited's part here on the Idiotic Super Highway. Like how people seem to think that getting upset constitute some kind of loss. Very, very odd)

Just wait, as the flames cool on this latest Internet burn, from the ashes will rise....

Thesurvivor2299.com will in fact be real!

What? That's right, it WILL be the mist epic trolling of 2013... The mythical:

Double Troll!

(optimism >9000)
That sounds so much like Barney Stinson I read it in his voice o-0

OT: I never got my hopes up for this one, mostly because I could never play the game what with the equipment I have, but also because IT'S FUCKING IMPORTANT TO DO SO WHEN UNSURE OF THE LEGITIMACY.

Seriously, was it so hard to wait for the big reveal and THEN get excited about the new game coming out?

It's sad, yeah, but I have to say the guy deserves props for how deep he went into it.
Got me into playing Fallout 3 and giving it a second try, so yeah.

Why didn't he wait until the countdown was done? I don't understand the reason for putting so much work behind a hoax just to end it prematurely.

And they say internet trolls aren't entertaining.

I guess they just haven't seen trolling done right. This [http://thesurvivor2299.com/fuckyou.php] was pretty damn right by my counts.
What's the song playing in the background? I can't remember the name for the life of me.

it fits this so perfectly

because in troll 101, no one ever wins, and no one ever leaves

God damn it. You know for once I was willing to believe. I think deep down I knew it was a hoax, but I squashed those feelings because if it was true it would have been fantastic.

Well played Sir/Madam. You trolled me good.

I think because some people from Bethesda were saying they had nothing planned for the spike video game awards and that's when the countdown was going to end.

Nah, it's just Bethesda trolling us by making us think it's fake. The countdown was for Wednesday. Why end the hoax early? They'd have had people watching the final minutes count down religiously; imagine a Rick Roll showing up only then? That would've genuinely been the best troll ever. Ending it now is so amateur.

Wasn't the countdown suppose to end on the 11th? 0 points for integrity. I swear, kids these days.

Good troll, 10/10.

I'm actually a little disappointed.
I really, really want Fallout 4!

Good job, I say, on whoever created it.
Get us all caught on and spreading it around the web only to yank the curtains down when we're all excited to reveal nothing.
Good show, good show.

That is so fucking hilarious, seeing everyone making guesses as if they were right, oh man, right in the jelly beans.

Personally I'm very disappointed. Not because I was expecting a new Fallout, but I haven't seen the frothing rage that I was hoping to see when people found out it was a hoax.

I really wanted to believe this was true but a part of me always knew it was fake. I'm just going to go curl up in a ball and cry now. It was a really well done troll though, I'll admit.

I can kinda see the warped appeal in throwing out some vague, encrypted hints just to watch people go to ridiculous lengths to decipher, communicate and contort themselves around the gravity of incomplete information. It would be as curious to watch as fishing with no bait and catching a whole school.

Now, I kinda wish the hook from that metaphor wasn't something I care a great deal about as a favorite franchise, but I endured a whole decade of false flag promises and maddening bullshit between Fallout 2 and 3 / NV, so I've developed a sense of patience in regards to this particular cluster of properties. ;)

Plus... Wasteland 2 is almost in beta, regardless...
