ok i totally support your right to protest, but you don't have the right to use the "No taxation without representation" line. we have elected representatives and just because you lost the last two elections doesn't mean you aren't being represented. When the "No taxation without representation" line was first used the colonies didn't have any elected representatives in the British Parliament. Welcome to the minority, it sucks, but you need to figure out what YOU did wrong then you can start reforming your party and winning elections again.

yea I agree totally. When the democrates were in the minority and spoke up they were un-Americans, anti-partiots. Now they are in power they are tyrants. Honestly I tend to tune out the mud-slinging as much as possible in an attemtp to find what the real arguement is

Yeah, what a lot of the conservatives fail to realize is that they are in the minority now. They stuck with Bush until the second half of his presidency, and now they're fed up with Obama after 3 months and protest?

Well to their credit they are the loudest group out there.

"There's a lot of different scenarios," Perry said. "We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot."

yeah the government elected by a majority of people in the country is totally ignoring them now......

Also i kinda hope Texas secedes, it would destroy the ability of the republican party to win presidential elections. :)

I actually had started a thread on this (sort of) take a peek if you want, as to the whole bush question, yeah, but it is common practice to blame the sitting president for what ever is wrong, often as a result of their predecessor's policies. Plus, hes a democrat, so it must be his fault, at least in their eyes...

Actually, it wasn't just that (if even that). This had been coming since the Carter administration. It's not like Obama made up some Stimulus packages, the majority of which were for government spending, which doubled our national deficit before his first year as president was up.

And I did get a good laugh at the teabagging, and the "Teabag Obama" thing.

Your original post presumes that all American politics revolve around the conflict between Republicans and Democrats which, incidentally, is an attitude both parties encourage and exploit to achieve personal power and riches.

I support good policy no matter the party label you ascribe it to. That is why I opposed virtually everything Bush ever did, and that is why I attended my local Tea Party.

The people of this country are not well represented in Congress in many ways. The Republicans and Democrats fight amongst themselves, but do nothing to benefit the people or implement their will.

I've never understood the complaining over taxation. They tax at all, you whine you're being overtaxed. They don't tax, you whine they don't do anything.

(the "you" isn't addressed to anyone in particular)

Post WW2 our economy was the strongest it had ever been and our taxes were the highest they had ever been. Obama is just bringing back Clinton's tax levels, the ones you were perfectly fine with.

I dunno. I don't label myself as a member of either major political party (because I have very liberal humanitarian views but am very conservative economically), but I do support the right of anyone, for any reason, to protest. I would have actually attended my local tea party (on the steps of the Oregon capital), if I hadn't been so out of it lately from having my wisdom teeth yanked out (hurray for vicodin!). That being said, I really don't know who I want to blame for the current economic crisis, if even anyone. I don't like the fact that Obama decided to spend billions and billions of dollars, because that's going to come back and bite the taxpayers in the ass, but if it pulls us out of this "recession" or "depression" or whatever the hell we're calling it, then it might just be worth it.

Well, I think that's a little unfair. I think there are a lot of people that don't fully understand the issues, but at the same time, there are people that have taken the time to come to an informed decision. As a firm believer in the "most people are idiots" vein, it's hard for me to say this, but there are a lot of people out there that get less credit than they deserve for being informed.
