I guess we have all had the terrible sinking feeling as one realises that no matter what you do something refuses to work and you just cat seem to figure out why. Or maybe you know exactly why something isn't working and you just can't seem to find a fix or workaround. This is the place for you then my friend.

So rant away, vent it all here for the amusement of others and to make your self feel a smidgen better. Who knows...the escapist community is chock a block with people in the know, someone may be able to help. After all stranger things happen at sea, or so I'm told anyway.

Gah screw you HTC! Why do you not hire proper programmers?! Is it so hard to test your crappy software to like you know make sure it fucking works! I've been trying to install you shitty shitty HTC Sync software but the bastard thing wont recognise the frickin phone! After a bit (read shit loads) of Google foo I find out that the friggin drivers are the problem. So download an older one then? simple....WRONG! No non of them work. What the fuck...WHY!? It's not like I'm on some obscure OS (Vista 32bit Home Premium) or I'm asking the thing to something wildly unreasonable, no I just want to connect the phone to my god damn PC so I can update the android version to ICS. Which is something you promised us we could do, fuck I don't even mind that you made us do it manually this time and didn't make it an auto-update (like you did with the previous update, why not do that again you useless shits) No I'm cool with that...what is most definitely no fuckin ok is that you force us to do it with a buggy, non working, fuck up of an excuse of a piece of software!

Ahh much better, if any one knows a way to update android on a HTC Desire S without having to use HTC Sync then please, for the love of all that's dear and fluffy, let me know before I get an aneurysm or something.

My beef is with Sky (our internet provider). We signed on with them about eight-nine months ago, and part of the sign-up agreement is that they install a phone line (obviously, its needed for internets). Because we live in an older flat building, one of the exchanges somewhere was broken, and they couldn't be bothered to have it fixed. So they installed a "temporary" line in our kitchen.

Yes, the kitchen. In a tiny flat. The socket they put in is, literally, dangling off the wall. It's orientation relative to all the power sockets means that there power cables for the phone and the router have to cross the patio door (meaning you have to limbo everytime you want to get onto the patio). The router itself has to rest on my chopping board as there's nowhere else to put it. It's also in the furthest point in the flat from anywhere useful, like the living room or bedroom, so wireless signal is shit.

All that aside, we coped for eight months, until the line finally gave up the ghost (preobably on account of the fact that it was in our FUCKING KITCHEN, and got bounced around any time we wanted to do any kitchen things). Called Sky up, and they were completely unapologetic, and then had the nerve to tell me that if we wanted it fixed, we'd have to foot the call-out fee for an engineer, which would be £100.

That's £100, to fix a problem that only exists because they were too lazy to do their jobs the first fucking time. So I refused to pay. In the end, I got it working myself by removing the microfilter. Which means we can't have our phone plugged in anymore (at least, not at the same time as the router), and we get (more) frequent signal crashes.

The final kicker came a couple days ago when i got my phone bill and discovered that the calls I made to them cost me thirty FUCKING POUNDS for nothing. GAAAAAAAAH.

Other tech problems are that Apple (actually, Microsoft also counts here)is shit when it comes to software development tools and flexibility, the majority of smartphone OSes are retarded, and that the only reason that Windows is popular is because of gaming. Otherwise, Windows is the shittiest thing I've used, right up there with the Mac OS.
