Hey guys,
First time posting on the Escapist forums, here goes...
I just wanted to share with you all a response I recently wrote to Stephen Totilo's article "In Defense of Offense: Why We Gamers Shoot." For those who may not know, Mr. Totilo is the editor-in-chief of kotaku.com and this article he wrote happened to be featured in the New York Times.
While his article was very well written and thought out, I feel Mr. Totilo failed to adequately address *why* exactly he was defending games like Black Ops 2 and Halo 4 which is a shame since he spent a majority of the article talking about how great those and other "shooter" games are.
Here's a link to Mr. Totilo's article: http://nyti.ms/10e8eo8
And here's a link to my response: http://bit.ly/Y3wZEh
Feel free to share your thoughts and opinions regarding either Mr. Totilo's article or my response. I feel it is an important issue not only for those who have personal experience with violence and warfare but for gamers in general now that we're quickly moving into a more "realistic" era of shooter gameplay.
Cheers.
