It's a box.

An empty box.

And it's worth 30k.

I, uh, don't really know what to say, so here's a bunny.

If it's big enough to hide in, it's worth $30,000.

Alternatively, buy a new washing machine and use that box!

This is why I don't like modern and abstract art. How is that art? What is this supposed to convey? It's just a box. Anybody willing to pay 30,000 for it is blind to reality and rich enough to believe high class garage society, by the way. I can make an almost exact replica and spend less then 5$ and then just claim that its the same piece and worth 30,000. Now I'm off to go sell a stick as a 50,000 piece of art to some rich dudes.

Maybe the box contains an alternate universe like in that episode of Futurama.... or maybe its just a box.

The box is so valuable as it is filled with the hopes and aspirations of countless young, aspiring, and likely starving, artists.

no, no, no it doesent work like that you need to do something to it for it to be art so either break in into two sticks or carve it into a smaller stick

At least it's made of bronze and not actually cardboard...
Isn't bronze, like, really cheap? They make pennies out of it!

I see your point, I shall glue a rock to it (I have some glue sitting around here somewhere...).

I know what you mean. I once saw a piece that consisted of three crushed Starbucks cup nailed to a board. No way I'd spend thousands of dollars on that.

It's art, that's why. Anything can pass as "art" in today's world. I remember a guy who made a sculpture out of shit once, called it art. I'll try and see if there is an article about it.

This reminds me of a chunk of "art" near where I used to live. It's placed in the city park and it is literally, a giant chunk of concrete with rebar sticking into the ground and supporting it 5 feet in the air... it literally looks like someone forgot to knock all of a building down

Ah, the wonders of conceptual art.

You don't have to agree with it, I sure don't. But the sheer amount of narrow minded ignorance so egregious as to not even have the faintest idea what you're bashing is giving me the urge to slam my head into my desk.

Here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conceptual_art

Read that link until you get it, then post in this thread.

I have this exact piece in my room right now!

Except it's in the corner!

And I use it for recycling!

Does this mean I'm rich?!
