The Thread About Nothing

I've been watching Seinfield season one on DVD lately and it's reminded me of just how funny that show and Jerry's stand-up was, especially in the early years.

In the spirt of the show about nothing, here's a thread about nothing. Feel free to contribute your random thoughts, rants, funny anecdotes about whatever you want. The only rule is, it can't be about anything that is actually important or that has a long running thread about it already.

Here's one to start:

What's the deal with cleaning house when you know company is coming? You live with your house the way it is most of the time. You're comfortable with it like it is. But as soon as you know company is coming, all of a sudden, it needs dusted, picked up, even re-arranged in some cases. Are we afraid our friends and/or family will find out we don't dust on a regular basis or something? I bet if we snuck into the houses of most of the people we try to impress, we'd find out theirs is just as dusty and disorganized as ours is, if not worse. Do you do the "shove random things in a closet and under the bed" thing when you are running out of time and they are almost there? I have to admit, I've been guilty of doing that stuff myself. I grew up with it. My Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma did it before me. When I'm not in the midst of doing it myself, though it seems like a really dumb thing to do.

what is the deal with people not thinking through what they want to post on a forum? I mean sure, it SEEMS like a good idea to get people to write down "random" thoughts, until of course you realise we are on the internet, and people have disgusting thoughts on the internet. even worse, this could turn into a list thread, and it's titled very, very badly. It's like some people go out of their way to get hit by the mods

Rant about whatever we want? Well this will be a small rant.

The following is an example of a imitation of Jerry Seinfield. I hate imitations. /rant

Or maybe they don't have the guts to travel to /b/ instead of making these threads.

Since we're posting random thoughts I'll give you a confession: I hate computers, I really do. But I can't live without the damn things either.

Why is everyone being so harsh on this thing? It doesn't seem like a bad idea, and the thread has potential for some good laughs. Geez, guys, give him a break.

Anyways... Has anyone here been given money or one of those "use-it-anywhere" gift cards for Christmas, and then the person actually told you what to use it for? Doesn't that just seem kinda... weird? It happened to me this year, and I honestly don't know how to react. I mean, it's a present. Unless it's a gift card for a specific store, you shouldn't tell the person how to use it.

EDIT:

That's kinda like me with the show Heroes. It's gotten so rediculous, but I NEED to know what happens next. And I never get like that...

What the Hell is with Big Brother? It's like a misguided Nazi experiment or something.

"I know, let's put 13 social outcasts and drooling morons into a small, 60s style box of a house and proceed to watch as they tear what little morals their fellow lab rat's had out through their liver. That will please the Fuhrer."

What's the deal with Burger King adverts?

They advertise their cheeseburgers as 100% beef. What the hell kind of cheese are they using? Nevermind the bun.

question.... a year is 365 1/4 days

we have a leapyear to make up the 1/4 days every 4 years

so why are we not like 18 hours off by the time the leap day comes around?.... 18 hours is a lot! technically it should be dark in the day etc

Daylight savings time I'd say plays a big part but I'm not sure.

Well if we really cared we could go looking around the internet but I have work to do and I can procrastinate happily without that helping me :p
