The thread of comfortable truths

Things tend to work out. No matter how bad you think things are, you'll probably come out ok.

It will all end eventually.

Yes that is a comfortable truth for me.

No matter what you will die eventually...what? Its comforting to me...

Wow, emo boys, you want some tissues while you cry in the basement?
Fact: You have a computer with Internet access, therefore your quality of life is higher than 99% of all people who have ever lived.
Confident Assumption: You live in a first world nation, meaning you have better schools, better healthcare and more entertainment than 99% of people who lived
Confident Assumption: You've never been in real trouble for a moment in your entire life. Never been shot at, never been in a part of the world with minefields, never not known where your next meal was coming from, and never not had a place to sleep.

Yet some how, you look forward to death, while people who live in constant fear and the threat of danger are just happy to be alive. How about you count your blessings and live instead of just spend your life bitching.

This sums up my attitude about it all. Edit just to clarify my stance I mean no offense to any individuals if your life does indeed suck I feel for you i really do. However those who pointlessly ***** do piss me off. This is not meant as an accusation of anyone its just my own personal attitude on the matter. My apologies that I misread your post, I took it to mean it all ends when we die, not whatever is going wrong will eventually stop, in which case I agree with you.

Yeah, that ended up being my point, people who have it best tend to complain the most. The rich are more concerned about money than the poor, the dying value life more than the healthy, etc.

Sorry, I realize I came across as a prick. Not to excuse myself, but as an explanation; I spent some time in Sarajevo, it...colored (to put it mildly) my judgment about people who complain about how life sucks when they take things like running water and being able to walk around outside for granted.

I know everyone has problems in their life, and things get hard at times, but in the spirit of comfortable truths, most problems any native English speakers will experience are pretty mild and not that bad.

In that case, you've just found yourself a triad, which can be pretty damn awesome under the right circumstances.


The chances against life existing are so small as to practically be impossible, and yet here we all are.

People exist in this world who go out of their way to make others' lives better in a million tiny ways, and do so on a daily basis. Whether it affects your life directly or not, it's nice to know that they're out there.

Every single day, there are hundreds of little (and sometimes not-so-little) reasons to smile, you just have to be willing to look for them. Favorite examples of mine include finding pennies, visiting the adorable animals at pet stores, and spending time with the people I love.

and, in the words of Max Ehrmann, "with all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world."
