Well im really exited for BF3, Skyrim and AC:R

Skyrim will probably win it for me, although BF3 does have 60 awards so far so ive got high hopes for that one too, and I really enjoyed the beta

Deus Ex, Skyrim, and BF3.

Even though two aren't out yet, if they're half as good as they're looking, they'll be contenders.

I'm going with Stacking for the indie catagory mainly because it was adorable but also because it was released WAY back in the beginning of the year and has likely been forgotten.

I can't make an honest decision though since I'm still waiting for Saint's Row 3 and Skyrim.

Uncharted 3
Skyrim
Arkham City with Dark Souls as a probable fourth entry.

Call of Duty will not even be in the running.

Keeping in mind that no fewer than half a dozen games will call themselves "Game of the Year" when all is said and done, Skyrim, Uncharted 3 and Arkham City are all locks.

I'm more excited for Saints Row 3, but I doubt anyone's going to be calling that GOTY.

Zelda:SS and Dark Souls will also get a lot of attention.

Call of Duty isn't going to win any GOTY awards, but it will become the highest selling game ever.

Though if it doesn't, I wonder if Activision will blow up the franchise like they did Guitar Hero.

the witcher 2
Bastion
Shogun 2

i was underwhelmed by both Portal 2 and deus ex(still great games just not as good as i thought they would be) and because i moved and my PS3 is still in the basement somewhere i will not be playing dark souls this year. i won't be getting skyrim this year but arkham city may remove the witcher.

For MY GOTY, Portal 2, Saints Row The Third, and Deus Ex Human Revolution and possibly Arkham Asylum are contending for it.

I don't like Uncharted, I don't care about The Elder Scrolls, and the others aren't nearly as good or potentially good as those games.

As for other places' GOTY? Skyrim and Modern Warfare 3 probably.

My game of the year is Gears of War 3, since it's the most fun I've had in the series. I'm also smart enough to know that Skyrim will win Game of the Year, simply because it was developed by Bethesda, and as we all know, Bethesda games, no matter how broken, will always win game of the year.
Blah blah blah. Is it so hard to accept that you're outnumbered by people who genuinely think Bethesda make great games?
I'm not denying that I'm outnumbered, especially on these here forums. I'm denying that they make great games. Except for Fallout 3, since that was fun for a few playthroughs.

And as far as I'm concerned, Gears is better than Oblivion. But that's just my opinion.

explain to me how LA Noirce and Deus Ex, two of the worst AAA games which have came out this yea can beat out Skyrim, Uncharted, etc.

Arkham City sure... the rest? that's just laughable.
Even though I already explained it in the post that was quoted, LA Noire (facial deciphering and detective work) and Deus Ex (reboot to an almost decade dead franchise) brought something new, compared to Skyrim which will just be more of what we saw in fallout coated in a high fantasy Oblivion coat all of which took place within this console generation. Uncharted, exactly the same thing, its the same elements of the prior two Uncharted games with a few tweaks added. (EDIT: and yes, Arkham city is the exact same thing, but honestly, It was my failing for including it)

Let me make it clear. I am not saying Uncharted or Skyrim are/will be bad games. I am saying that there is absolutely nothing new there we havent seen already from within those same franchises within this console generation. So why exactly would we want to give GOTY honors to what is essentially the same game that already won GOTY honors 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 years ago? I dont like giving my GOTY nods to games that boil down to little more than a fresh coat of paint on a game that was already GOTY before when there are games that have offered us something different.

Considering that Skyrim's not out yet I'd hate to bring it up on the off chance it'd adjust my expectations in a way the gameplay won't compensate for.

I haven't played Dark Souls either, There's a small chance I'd like it at all because I don't take well to frustrating games.

Batman: Arkham City. Yeah, all those 10/10 reviews are probably full of shit the game is still pretty fucking good. Some of the best combat I've ever seen in a game. It's like Assassin's Creed with Batman, and since there was no Assassin's Creed game this year Batman gets to stand out. Yes it's a sequel but it passes the sequel rule of being both relevant and better than the first one.

Catherine: What? An original IP! A narrative focused game! Added bonus, A story that hasn't been fucking done to death! Not a shooter!!! A puzzle game, no less! These are all things I like. Catherine filled a void in my life that I thought would never be filled. I Thought A non shooter game where the main cast actually had to have emotions would never get made in this wold, unless it was an XBLA game. Then Catherine shows to spread parade under my rain.

Bastion: Let it never be said that XBLA games couldn't kick the ass of any triple A title. It has that whole meshed story and gameplay thing that is sorely lacking in games now days. Or ever really. Asides from a couple balance issues that crop up near the end it's a really fun game, and pretty to look at too. You don't get that a lot now days.

Games I'm still considering.
Skyrim
Dark Souls
Blood Rayne: Betrayal

Missed the cut.
Portal 2
Record of Agarest War Zero
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
DR2: Off the Record
All for failing to pass the Sequel rule test.

Child of Eden
Fruit Ninja
For being Kinnect exclusives and I'm just that Petty

Resident Evil 4
Beyond Good and Evil
For being remakes

Apologies to all PS3 games I haven't played any of them.
