So I was trying to get to sleep last night, when I got around to thinking: know what would be awesome? If Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin did a cover of Sublime's Saw Red together. The idea seemed awesome to me.

So now think of a song. Then think of any band ever that would be perfect to cover that song.

PS Can we not be childish and do something like "lulz how bout Justin Beiber covers Its Raining Men." or something along those lines. Please?

I think Iron Maiden should do a cover of this song...

I can almost imagine how awesome that would sound...

Haha, you could make a whole thread about Disney movies with heavy metal soundtracks. I agree completely with that idea. Definitely could be an Iron Maiden song.

Wouldn't it be cool if a country singer did a cover of NIN's Hurt.

No wait that would suck.
([sub][sub]I jest, I jest, you're entitled to like that song if you wish:3 [/sub][/sub])

Seriously though, I reckon Alter Bridge (or at least Myles Kennedy) should cover some Soundgarden songs, and vice versa (Soundgarden / Chris Cornell covering Alter Bridge songs).

I'm usually against a lot of heavy metal covers, but Bruce Dickinson would make this one sound awesome.

I can almost hear him singing "Let's get down to business!" in that great voice of his.

Ultimate cover song has been done already. Nirvannna "The man who sold the world". Somehow I feel Red Hot Chilly Peppers would make a nice cover for "American Pie"

Clearly this song wins this thread:

A weird song made better by a totally freaky artist.

Usually when someone says something along these lines I tend to completely ignore their post.

I'm glad I didn't this time.

Weirdly about a week ago I was actually thinking about this. I thought it would be awesome if Alice In Chains who are one of my favourite bands did a cover of Kashmir. I lazily typed it into the net just in case then this turned up

I was like :O

First one I'm posting - completely fan made english lyrics that sync up and work so well

And second because it does covers of so many songs in a bit of a humourous form

I would have loved to hear Type O Negative do a cover of Don't Fear the Reaper. That would have been incredible. They did some of the best covers in music history. It is such a shame that they can no longer be. RIP Peter Steel.

So many people have done that, I enjoy Tim Minchin's version the most, I think it's just his voice that completes it!

OT: Justin Bieber covering it's raining men! I mean... maybe an Orchestrated version of this?

http://youtu.be/WneDU-K3Sww

I'd love to see a full Orchestra rock out like that!

Ha! I can totally see that. But I don't think you need to go as far as making it a metal song to make it awesome, it would probably be enough to have it sung by someone with a rougher voice.
