So, my fellow escapists, I have something to ask you.
Would you buy the ultimate MMO- a game along the lines of planetary conquest, allowing for almost any style of play. If you like FPSs, go to the front lines. If you prefer air combat simulators, fight in the skies. If you like train sims or stuff like that, handle the movement of logistics to the front line. If you're a... building(?) enthusiast, play an engineer and set up the prefab bases and such as they go along.

Realistically, we're at least 20 years away from being able to achieve both the technology and the player numbers to get this kind of game working, but I think the discussion which will hopefully be generated will give some interesting thoughts.

Ohhh, me likey. It sounds a bit like that aborted Halo Reach mode that was supposed to drop everyone into a full on crazy battle on a truely massive map.

I don't think it would ever work (the logistics behind managing to code, balance, and maintain something that big being pretty insurmountable) also you would never get a truely perfect experience, as everyone likes different things in their games.

But assuming that the game was made to a really high standard, and provided a solid, good gaming experience, I would play the heck out of that game, on pretty much every mode as well.

P.S. For the building enthusiast I think you mean RTS players: so creating bases a la Command and Conquer or Age of Empires. Awesome.

A space underdog, on a epic quest with love, arrogance, betrayal and Twists.

The ships would be all rendered outside and inside so that you could be in the ships (controlled by guilds in wich the guild leader would be the captain).

There would be 5 factions more or less, people would be able to get individual ships and whole galaxies to explore freely.

It would have plenty of races to see, weapons to choose from, economy system, be able to go to the planets and explore (like dungeons), it would be more fps oriented or 3rd person, it would require skill to play, and you could dress in whatever you liked.

You could also go against teh factions and become a space pirate (be it with a guild or alone).

It would have a deep story that would leave you addicted for many months in the end...
