How do you pronounce "Bath"? }

"Baf" or "Barth"?

Both seem to be commonly used among people, but I'm curious to see how the majority of the Escapists say it?

I personally pronounce it "Barth", I have no idea why, it just rolls off the tongue easier

Edit: Okay, the Poll got eaten...Damn it..

Southerners pronounce it with a long 'a' sound; northerners pronounce it with a short 'a' sound.

Cockneys pronounce 'th' as an 'eff' sound.

I say bath. As in bah-th, I think that's a good way to describe it.

I didn't realise there were other ways of saying it!

I pronounce it 'bath' with a short 'a' sound as I'm from the north of England. Southerners typically pronounce it 'barth' with the long 'a' sound.

it's all most as if some had already said that...

Barth, despite being a northerner.

Easy - bath. That's:

B-A-X-Ü-X-ь-Э-غ-
-永-Q-T-H

I don't understand what issue people have with pronouncing it.

I don't get what you mean. Am I not allowed to say how I pronounce it and why? Saying I'm from the north seemed relevant

I'm sorry, I didn't realise that how the south pronounced it was also influencing you.

I was just saying, there's no need to be so condescending.

NO! Only one person is allowed to say a specific thing on the internet! Then no one else is!

OT: I didn't know there was other ways to pronounce it but Bah-th.

Sorry but I didn't take it that way, it seemed like you being genuine. If you were just joking then don't sweat it :)

There's no 'r' in it, so I pronounce it the correct Northern way. Just like the word "bastard".
