Now as a gaming community we all inevitably reach a point where we end up stuck on a particular level, or there's a boss we can just never figure out how to beat. And as a large gaming community it follows that there's likely someone out there who knows exactly how to beat that boss or get past those pesky snipers or whatever. So how to find those people? You can always start a thread. But then we see the forums full of threads asking for advice on all sorts of games. I remember when I first joined the Escapist, I posted a thread asking for help on Oblivion. Now it seems someone else here has decided to ask the same question.

So here is a place where you can find that reference and look up those strategies. This is a place where people can post their gaming tips and tricks and ask for help on other games. Ideally everyone will work together to help each other and hopefully find the advice you need for the games you're stuck on. So fire away with the questions, and soon you'll have the answers you need :D.

EDIT: Just to clarify, note that I won't personally answer each question, unlike similar threads for different topics. This is where people can answer each other's questions and have the whole community chip in to solve people's gaming problems.

Ninja Gaiden (Xbox series):

The enemies tend to leave you alone more often if you can gain distance and then face the camera away from them. It's not a surefire plan, but you take what you can get. If it works, you can proceed to murder his lone friend who decided to chase you. Saved my sanity for the overwhelming enemy scenarios.

Damn it, I've been waiting for something like this and when it finally comes round I can't think of anything.
Heh, fair enough :). I just thought it would be a nice thing to have similar to things like the Artist in Thee thread and the Relationship Thread, and I noticed someone wanted Oblivion help, so I figured it would be good to put it all in a single easily referenced thread for people to find and bookmark, rather than wading through pages of threads to find the single one they remember seeing two weeks before about the one game they're now stuck on.

I'm actually stuck on the second boss of Ninja Gaiden II for the 360. Damn enemy ninjas won't leave me alone long enough for me to try and take care of the giant spider thing and every time I stop to try and kill said ninjas, the spider thing rushes in for the kill.

That room was actually a bit too small for me to make use of my exploit. On Warrior, I could kill it through skill. Higher than that kinda became luck-based (not enough potions). Your best hope might be to jump away to gain distance, use OLC when they stop throwing stuff at you, and unleash a level 1 charge. Rinse and repeat. Wall attacks with Lunar aren't bad either. I don't remember if those ninjas used incendiaries or not (if not, then better for you).

Here a big one for Online Shooters
Don't jump around like a idiot and think you'll take less damage, you can't change direction midair, meaning anyone can score a easy headshot. Also makes you extremely noticeable, meaning you'll draw a lot of fire

Here's one (though it might be pretty basic). Mass Effect

Load your shotgun with the absolute biggest mods and ammo that you have. Easy one shot kill every time. You'll almost definitely overheat after one shot, but even Krogans won't be able to stand against you.

Agreed completely. I can think of plenty of times when I've been playing online and idiots jumping around have fallen prey to my trusty sniper rifle ;)

Not sure how many people still play the original Halo online, but there's still a massive community for Halo Custom Edition on the PC (not bad for a game with two sequels and dated about five years). I play there quite a lot myself. Anyway, on Capture the Flag games on the user-made map Coldsnap (probably the most popular map ever on the first Halo, even more than the official Bungie maps), try and grab a Jet from whatever base you're at then use the crevasse (flying very low) or the mountains (flying right by the edge of the map boundary) to get closer to the opposing base, since you can't be spotted from the main battlefield then and you cover a lot of ground quickly. Plus you'll have an easier ride back if you do that again on the way to your base. Never use the Warthogs or any of the tanks unless you are on defence and are guarding your own flag, or are on defence against air attack. It's no fun covering 6km of ground in-game in an extremely slow Mythos, no matter how much uber-firepower it may have.

The only helpful thing that springs to my mind at the minute is that on assassins creed 2, it's significantly easier to fight with your hands to disarm enemies rather than using your sword etc. Especially when your greatly outnumbered.

On shooters try not to run around unless their is a grenade because otherwise your an easy target and your ability to respond is greatly lowered. We all say we hate campers, but thats because it's an easy and highly effective strategy so long as you be careful when you choose to reload, keep slightly moving possition every other kill (confuses) and remember to pull back the second you start to feel pressured. Keep a watchful eye on teammates, looking at their indications etc will give you information on enemy locations, strength, tactics and weapons. This is also useful as most enemies will be targeting your team member giving you a good chance to surprize and overwhelm quickly.

hahahaha, if only i actually did any of that i might be better at shooters

I'm sorry, but I'm just going to take this opportunity to point everyone to Blincon's Achievement Helper [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Achievement-Helpers-Society] group. Don't let the name fool you, they help with games in general, not just getting achievements.

Dragon Age: Origins pwn it all battle plan. Played the game through on nightmare.
Taunt with Alistair.
Force Field Alistair.
Win.
Works on everything in the game. Will make DA:O boring as shit though, as all fights become a pushover.

Hmm I shall take advantage out of this thread.

"My problem lies in Modern Warfare 2 Spec ops mode, the mission is wardriving and I'm trying to complete it on veteran difficulty."

"The problem is I can't get pass the first three houses, ever time I laser a target, am suddenly caught of guard, by grenades and flank attacks".

Any tips or hints on how to get pass this level. I would really appreciate it.

I've not played MewTwo, but here's a tactic I find useful in almost every shooter I've played. You say you're caught off guard after you laser a particular target. Thus, when you laser it, get back as quickly as possible immediatly to a safe place. If possible, flank the enemy and fire out of cover at the exposed ranks of the enemy. Does MW2 have allied AI who you can give orders to? If so, have them attack from the front while you attack the flanks, if not then go round the flanks anyway. As soon as they start throwing the grenades, get out and find a new place to attack from. When the area's clear, move onto the next target, rinse, and repeat.

Not entirely sure if this will work in MW2 but it's worth a try, it works for me on other shooters. Hope it helps anyway :)

Demon's Souls

Start as a spellcaster. Seriously. Don't even think about starting as a class that uses melee combat. Killing your enemies with magic is much less risky than facing them close quarters, at least early in the game. Also, consult an online wiki before doing anything.

You know that sounds like it might actually work, I'll give it a try, thanks for your advice.

In Quake or Unreal, jump around as much as possible and blast your gun at everything all the time.

In Quake, learn to strafe jump, never just move, strafe jump everywhere.
Or Warsow, any fast paced Online shooter just move/strafejump, do not stand still. :)

take your time go slowly if you are working with a teammate have him/her run forward spawn the enemies then fall back once you have an angle on them let the stryker take them out move slowly one person about 15ft in front of the other so you can't get flanked and can give covering fire easier and if the person in front gets downed just go to ground and wait for him to crawl back to you he can go pretty far in a minute. and once you are in the house make sure and try and keep th sentries turrets alive, and are you on sxbox ps3 or pc? im looking for more people to do spec ops with and you sound like your probably pretty good, I have the 360.
