Isn't COD5 in vietnam? Anyway, I think a game like that would be fun, origional anyway. They could sacrifice realism for a gun that relouds at modern standards

Why has nobody made a FPS game where you can actually play as a Terrorist, or a WWII game from the German perspective? Do people not realise that playing the bad guys is FUN? Yeah, so people will ***** about how "bad taste" it is, but you can guarantee half the planet would buy any shitty game if you just put the tag line "You get to blow up the White House!" on the cover.

It's what made the C&C NOD campaign worth beating. ;)
Well, I guess you'd have to totally whitewash all the atrocities. But they managed that by putting the Soviet Union in COD, so I guess it can be done.

And Rooster, you're so close. Put it in the Napoleonic wars, stick a fork in it, and call it done. Whack the dutch revolt in the same series and we can have some awesome water effects as we flood the country to stop the Spanish and have ship boarding battles in the fields outside beseiged cities.

I direct you to Counter-Strike.

Ninja Pirate War: Not technically a First Person SHOOTER, rather a game wherein you cointrol a pirate captain, trained to masterhood in ninjitsu. Dual-wield a variety of sabres, scimitars, katanas and more as you sail the seas of Japan in search of honour and ships to steal. Conquer towering foes, such as the Shurikraken (I don't care what you say, I'm proud of that one) in scaled battles that will leave you at wits end. Do you have what it takes to become Captain Master and find the Ultimate Treasure(tm) and find the path to immortality? Find out, for the exclusive price of £35.99, only available on xbox 360, Wii and PC.

I'd love an American Revolution game, just so long as I can play on the British side and keep you yanks in line.

Just kidding. :p

I could imagine this as a third-person shooter/fighter, but not as an FPS. Why? Because shooting once, then waiting 45 seconds to shoot again would be extremely boring(particularly if you miss the first time). And melee-fighting sucks pretty badly in first person.

If it was to be third-person you could include more fancy-schmany melee moves using your various sabers, bayonets and boxing skills. I imagine a cover system a bit like gears of war - say, you are storming an enemy formation, and then you have to cover before they shoot a volley, then get up and run, then hack the ones you don't shoot to death with a saber.

How about an FPS where there are no guns and 1 player randomly dies every 10 seconds ?
No ?

I picked the War of Spanish Succession because of the fascinating mixed unit tactics: the time when guns were the primary mode of battle but the bayonet had not yet replaced pole-arms and blades. Trust me, there was a lot of interesting stuff going on in Europe- and elsewhere.

But I love your idea, maybe more... sequel!? Would be a bad-ass series. But if I played a Dutch campaign, I would want Trafalgar, too, to narrate the thwarted invasion of England. How about a game about a British Marine? We're making hypotheticals, we ought to make them grand!

Edit: Also, this is all the proof I need that these games work well: http://www.bgmod.com/

As long as we put the capture and defence of Gibraltar in there. Brutal close quarter combat, death defying odds, murdering tonnes of dudes, it has it all. All we need now is someone as crazy awesome as we are with a boatload of cash.

It sounds like an alright idea to me, only problem is lack of variety in weapons, only muskets and 1 or 2 different pistols, it might get a little boring considering it was just run across a field shooting at each other.
Civil war could have been cool, but that would have the same problems.
WWI uses too much trench warfare, and would get boring quickly, too much waiting.
The modern warfare is fun, but we need less cliche "bad Guys" in it.
I think that overall WWII is one of the best periods to set a shooter in because while it does have some of the cliche bad guys and a nice variation in weapons, and while it is a tired genre, Brothers in Arms has been treading unwalked territory in it.

Now now, Bleach, do you have any better ideas than World War II or space marines?"
You internally call yourself Bleach?

Also it would be so annoying to reload after everyshot.

I'm pretty sure this would work as a third person game too but it would be way more intense as a first person shooter.
Your an average citizen in Pompeii on the day of the eruption and you have to escape the city as fast as you can while avoiding lava, sufacating ash clouds, looters and panic driven crowds

The whole city of pompeii would be open to exploration as you tried to escape.
And to change the difficulty you would start closer to the eruption on harder modes
most objects would be available for you to use and you get more points the more people you rescue; ie, lift up a burning timber up of a collapsed man and get him moving again

what do you guys think?

I would give it a try, but all the angry kids with the attention span of a friggin' 2 year old wont, because they want big guns, lots of ammo and huge tanks. they wont give a shit about this game, and they seem to be most of the market so this my friend, will never happen.
