Yes i know you will all be shocked to see a vampire thread at the moment not relating to twilight but here is is.

I have watched the movies Queen of the Damned and Interview with a vampire and have loved them both. I probably prefered Queen of the damned because Stuart Towsend is my gay crush and Interview had Tom Cruise in it.

After enjoying these movies i was wondering if i should read Anne Rice's novels that they were based off. Would you reccomend them and if so should i read in chronological order or certain books first?

Interview with a Vampire heaps on the gay pretty boy vampires a little hard but...

also happens to be an excellent deconstruction of Vampires and the myths surrounding them.

Keep in mind that I REALLY hate vampires, I find them kind of lame and I thought it was a pretty good book on the whole.

I felt the Vampires in the movie were awesome, but the non vamps were cheesy and predictable, which sort of brought the film down a bit. The "protagonist" got on my nerves.

I've only read interview with the vampire and that was a while ago, but yes it's pretty cool. One of my favorite reads had been the White Wolf book Ghenna, which circulates around Beckett and the awakening of Antedeluvians. It's pretty damn awesome, although knowing a little about the White Wolf setting of vampires is helpful.

the strangest moment in the movie was when the main dude burned a vamp with a sun lamp (or w/e) and the other vamps just stood there doing nothing :/

they could have captured him within seconds.....

Interview with the Vampire was OK, but just OK. There are much better books to read. Bram Stroker's Dracula, by way of an example. 'Salem's Lot was pretty good, too; however, I have been known to have a predisposition to Stephen King...

Apologies Abound.

no they aren't, they are blatantly vampires, they are smart and intelligent, they drink blood AND they have a severe allergy to the sun. those are all signs of a vampire not a zombie

as for the books, the first three are good, they go kinda downhill from there

the movies, the first one was good, the second one was rather meh and left out a lot of really cool parts from the book

They were vampires but their charecters were like zombies. The were not at all intelligent they did not have any charm or finesse they were just mindless killing machines.

I tried to read one Stephen King book, "The Dark Tower" but i just could not get into it. I will probably read Bram Strokers Dracula as well but these books seem an interesting other take on vampires.

After seeing "Queen of the Damned", I came to the conclusion that the best thing to happen to Aaliyah's acting career was the plane crash.

Vampires suck.

With the exception of the Black Ribboners.

Amazing.....I suppose she was a music major, then? Hmmm......That was always one of my favorite scenes in 'Queen of the Damned' because of the awesome music that was being thrown around in it.....

Well, back on topic, I've read 'Interview' as well as watched the film version. The book is better than the film, but I think both are rather ruined by the constant whining of Louis throughout them. I mean, Lestat makes the film partially bearable, but he's tossed out of the thing for 2 hours!

I'm partially through 'The Vampire Lestat' and am enjoying it immensely, as there's not as much silly angst in the thing. I very much like how Lestat actually enjoys being a vampire and is carefree (and gay, I suppose) about it- it makes for a very compelling book, I think.....

She is one of the best classical violinists i've ever met. I know she was playing it live, but im not sure if the sound track was another player or not.

you've never seen a lot of vampire lore then, it's riddled with stuff like that with vampires in a coven, most will follow the leader which they were doing. they were acting exactly like a vampire would in a coven and no where near a zombie as they did demonstrate they had brains and were thinking
