Thanatos shook his head, like a dog shaking off water. It actually looked somewhat funny. "Ach, sorry about that. I really dislike a cruel disregard for life. I tend to get somewhat... fanatical. If not for my abilities, that probably would have gotten me thrown out of the Vertix long ago." He laughed then considered what Grace said. "Hmmm... that sounds interesting. I wonder if I could join you? I guess I'll have to ask the minister." Thanatos seemed lost in his thoughts for a minute, then he scrambled to his feet. "Aw man, I'm just completely loosing it today, aren't I? I've forgotten all semblance of manners!" He bowed, something you would normally see at a royal gathering. "My apologies for my savage behavior. My name is Thanatos De Infernus. Might I have the pleasure of knowing your name?" Thanatos straighted up.

Cygnus was making his way from the library to his quarters when he saw Grace and Thanatos out in the garden. Well, I gave the map out to Misa already anyway... He walked into the garden, noticing a single bird before it flew away.

"Ah, sorry... Not good with birds. Or dogs... cats... any animals really. Anyway, I came to hand these to you guys. Might as well give it to you now."

Cygnus awkwardly handed the map copy to Grace. "There's notes on there explaining about the alleys and passages and such...." he said as he was eying ice around the area despite it being a warm day today. What is up with this mood? This mission is going starting to seem harder and harder, enemies or no.

He looked at Thanatos. "You're interested in joining us? Ah, erm... Excuse me, I just happend to have overheard a bit of the conversation earlier as I was walking in. I could try and put a good word in for you, as I'm leading the protective aspect of the mission. We could always use a good magus in the team."

Thanatos turned around. "That sounds good! Mind telling me what the details are? I got a broad overview from the lady over here, but nothing specific."

 

[NeoAC]

"Thanks Cygnus," Grace said as she took the map. She saw him looking around. "Yeah, sorry about the ice, I was bored so I figured I'd just make sure I wasn't rusty with my powers or anything. Thanatos has like heat powers or something, so he can take care of it if needs to be cleared out I guess."

Not a lot to this place anyway, looks pretty easy to defend from.

"Oh, I'm Grace by the way. You don't have to bow for me, I'm not royalty."

"It's hard to say until we get word from the guerillas. I've scoured the library for information, but there's barely anything about it. I've heard of make believe lands with more information and background to them than the library has on Easterbank. If you want, you can have a look at a map, I made extras anyway."

Cygnus handed Thanatos another map.

"There may be more information added to it later, depending on the guerillas. In any case, I'm headed back to my quarters, I have some practice of my own to do."

Thanatos shook his head. "No, normally I don't. However, I was rude to you. That's reason enough for me. Also, for the record, my power is 'Fire.' Fire and Ice. How ironic, no?"

 

[NeoAC]

"OK cool, see ya later Cygnus," Grace said, as he headed back.

Grace laughed a little at Thanatos' observation. "Haha, yeah I guess. I like ice, it's pretty and you don't mess with it, otherwise you get a lot more then a cold shoulder. But yeah, it'll be nice to have another magic user around besides Kylar. He's got all the dark powers and stuff and sometimes it's a little creepy. I swear I'll look at him sometimes and he'll be trying to read my mind or something, and I'll have to say, 'Ky, cut it out!' So yeah, watch out for that."

Thanatos chuckled as he tapped the side of his head with his finger. "I'd like to see him try. I don't think he could handle the heat." He looked down at the map. "Damn, that's a lot of places to snipe from! This city is an assassin's paradise! Why is the princess going there?"

Kylar walked calmly out of the bar with two things certain, he hated drunks and he had wasted two hours and gotten no information. Hands in pockets, he began to walk down the street in hopes of finding something with substance or Trent, whichever came first.

"I don't know," Grace admitted. "It's not even all that great of a city from the looks of it. It doesn't even look like they have a decent marketplace. But the princess is supposed to make an appearance there for something, like I said, I don't know why. That's why the guerillas and Ky were sent out, to make sure nothing screwy was going to happen."

Thanatos shrugged. "Then what are we there for? To stop anything that might get past the guerillas?" He kicked a pebble.

 

[NeoAC]

"I guess so, me and Misa were wondering that earlier, basically we're going to be standing around doing nothing. We get to ride in the royal carriage though!" Grace said with such enthusiasm it was hard to tell if she was being sincere or sarcastic.

Thanatos sighed. "Alright, so tommorow we go to a random city, protect the princess from any random hitman, and come back home to normalacy. What could possibly go wrong? I'm sure no-one will die of boredom." Thanatos shook his head. "So then, what do you want to do right now? I just got out of the hospital, and I'm bored as hell. any suggestions?"

Whenever TW reappears -_- if he doesn't show up tomorrow, we shall move on regardless and beyond that, he is gone.

[HEADING=3]Night fall[/HEADING]I have no children, the old man smiles, and the only thing that would make me happy, is...having this town to ourselves, he replies flatly staring at Trent. The group of thugs from earlier have reappeared, bolstered to about twenty men and well armed.

You leave, in peace, or pieces, your choice, boy, the old man growls, one of the thugs passes him a repeater crossbow.

You cannot beat all these guys without serious injury, it's up to you if you turn tail, they might not follow.

A light crackling echoes from downstairs, followed with a thin trail of smoke creeping under the door. The handle is boiling to the touch, all indicating a fire.

Several unseen eyes follow Kylar through the streets, as he tries to locate the others. Zero response has been heard from Jon since the arrival in the town.

Trent threw his hands up to shoulder level and back peddled, "Right, right." He said, "You've confirmed all needed to know anyway. He made his way slowly to an alleyway, careful not to make any sudden movements that might be threatening to the geriatric old fart.

Trent's foot got around the corner and he bolted, hearing 3 bolts hit the ground where he had been a second earlier. He sprinted down the alley, sprung off a stack of barrels, clambered a wall, and disappeared over a roof top. "Whoooo...." He breathed, "Well now we know there is a threat we may need to be careful of." Trent stood straight, "Right I think the house was that direction... I need to meet up with the others."

"What the hell--" Aurelius withdrew his hand, startled, and quickly considered his options:

There could still be villagers inside the burning house. But no--he didn't hear cries, and staying around would be too risky. Aurelius hauled himself back up through the skylight and bounded from rooftop to rooftop, seeking out the others from the air.

It was perhaps just in the nick of time that he stumbled upon Trent's plight--or at least it was a "plight", just before the man fled.

Something was really off about this town...

With no hesitation, he threw himself down off the roof, landing on the shoulders of the thug next to the old man, carrying him down to the dirt with his body weight. Then he leaped up and vanished again, waiting for the initial confusion to abate. Then he struck again, and again, and again.

Kylar saw the rising plume of ash and continued on, I'm not here to save them, just to case the place. After a few minutes of walking aimlessly, he heard some commotion in the alley and caught a glimpse of shadows. Shit is that Aurellius?

Ready himself, Kylar grabbed the nearest person and mercilessly destroyed his mind with nightmares before moving on to the next target.

Between the two of them, trained combatants versus street vermin, the threat was neutralized easily. Aurelius's metal hand snapped out to grab Kylar's wrist just before he dispatched the last one: the old man.

"Wait. Save this one." He looked over his shoulder at Kylar and nodded, "I know you've got a way with minds... We need truth out of him."

Trent stumbled back upon the house he and Kylar had happened upon earlier. "I'll wait here," Trent said to himself, "I'll wait, meet up with Kylar, then meet up with the others. Theres something odd in this town and that man was the center." Trent sat in a dusty chair as the wheels of his mind began to spin, trying to fit pieces together.

What truth? Who the hell are you people?! the old man cries, a look of shock on his face, what the hell do you want?!

Late night wake up call, the Minister echoes through the halls, you're leaving at first light, go down and eat, it may be your last chance before you leave.

"Goddamnit, does he wait until I have a good dream to do that?" Misa mutters into her pillow.
