The virus hunt

So around 3am I got a killer virus it corrptued Avg and wouldn't let me open task manager to close, so for 2 hours the hunt was on I had to scourer my computer to find the tricky little bugger and send straight to virus/usless files hell A.K.A the recycling bin I switched to safe mode started up a search and just finally defeated I felt good about not only did I get my computer running up again but I felt like I had bested some creepy guy in a basement who was running the virus( I know thats not how it works) and ulitmatly beated him in a final showdown over control and it was him who had blinked. so my dear escapist have you ever felt like some sort of cyber champion after killing a particaly diffcult virus off your computer and for added discussion value what was the worst virus you have ever gotten?

Save for the occasional bit of adware that slips by i don't think i've ever gotten full blown virus. My bastion of Spybot, Adaware, Avast and Comodo Firewall is nigh impregnable it seems

I don't know if it was a virus or just Vista, but occasionally parts of my computer would just stop working, for no apparent reason, such as the disc drive and my wireless dongle. One time, however, a quick reset didn't switch the dongle back on, so I went into safe mode and... internet worked! Conducted two scans with two different anti-virus', and it worked normally... my brothers did have a nasty encounter with the 'XP anti-virus' virus on every computer they touched at one time... that one was fun!
