I just finished the hardcover version of volume 6 of the Walking Dead (waiting for volume 7 hardcover or just find the paperback version) and I am loving the story so far.

Now I know the show got really good reception, but after looking up osme things about it, and looking back at the comic. I don't like some of the character look changes (granted actors will never look exactly the same but some don't even look remotely the same), such as for Rick and Shane.

Also the added Tv Only Arcs and such...

I don't know, anyone who read the comic would still recommend the show?

I really liked the show. A little annoyed the first season was so short but I really really enjoyed it. Saddly I haven't seen the comic, but thats usually how things go. I bet the comic is more graphic and gory than you can put on TV. I do want to know what happened to the dude who cut his hand off. Don't tell me I'm waiting for next season.
He doesn't exist in the comic. Neither does T-Dog, Felipie, Louis (looking at wiki), none appeared in the comic. The whole arc involving them never happened.

Loved the comic, since I was too poor to actually buy it at the time, I spent an hour or so reading through the giant paperbook thing of it (I think it was the compendium, might be wrong).
However, I only watched one episode of the show, and lucky for me, it was when the zombies attacked the camp.

I'm currently loving both, the TV series has to be able to do its own thing, what I especially loved though, was how the cast was basically cut down to the comic's cast.

I thought it was too short and I thought adding a character that wasn't in the comic was fine, sometimes you have to do things like that to make the show more interesting, if done well, and it is. I did have a few problems with how some of the characters don't look like their comic counterparts, but I liked the show enough to where I didn't care as much.

I will say though I am behind on the Walking Dead, but I doubt they would've screwed up the ending when they started so strong.

I'd recommend the show and I love the comic to bits. Having new stories within the show's own continuity is a good thing; it keeps the show feeling fresh, rather than merely being a rehash of the comic. The fact that Kirkman was involved with the changes also helps matters. It's not like it was other random writer changing things.

Different doesn't mean bad. Just think of it like it's a really good spin-off or something.

I really enjoyed the show, and I'd love to read the novels at some point but time is simply not my friend as of late.
