The second ep deviated pretty far from the source material. It was good for the most part, so I can live with that. What I can live with is:

How the show is depicting Lori Grimes. For some odd reason Lori seems almost happier, post apocalypse. In the book, she slept with Shane ONLY ONCE, and only used that incedent as a means of escape. While her actions were certainly not excusable, they were understandable. She was in mourning. Everyone mourns differently. She realized the error of her ways and was truly remorseful for her actions.

Not so in the show. For reasons I cannot understand, they are making Lori a character that the audience cannot relate too. A charcter with no redemming qualities. Why? It's yet to be seen I guess.

I really enjoyed the comic books, but I have not yet watched the TV series, but I am also quite leery of TV adaptations of books but hopefully this should be good. It looks it from the trailers.

Um.... no deviation from the comic? The "smearing blood and guts all over ourselves" thing was done so that they could get IN to the city, and if I remember correctly, only Rick and Glen were in the City, not an entire group. This is just from memory mind you.. Might be wrong, except about the blood n guts thing.

Other then that, they've done a brilliant job with the show so far. I've loved both episodes thus far and can't wait for more

I saw the first episode and thought it was awesome. Then, I saw the second and thought it was retarded. I can't stand any of the characters in the series.

First up, the rugged, gun-toting sheriff who always knows what to do and is never, ever wrong, on a quest to find his missing wife and daughter. They tried to make the character 'perfect', but he just comes off as entirely uninteresting to me.

Then the token black guy, a character so insufferable he manages to make the white-supremacist biker who almost beats him to death sympathetic by comparison.

Then, of course, the main characters wife who is apparently not only still alive, but is already hooking up with her husband's partner. Seriously, lady? It's been like a fucking week, and you're already banging your husband's best friend?

Another thing that really annoys me about it is how the characters don't really have any reason for surviving. Like how the protagonist manages to escape a tank being swarmed with zombies and run down a street with zombies all around him. If it was really that easy to evade them, how the fuck is anybody else a zombie!? The characters aren't especially fit, or clever, but they manage to survive just because the writers needed somebody to write about.

And just for once, I would love to see a zombie movie/series where the characters don't spout one-liners or 'quip'.

I´m a huge Walking Dead fan! I ´ve read all the issues thus far and I can tell you: if the tv show is anything like the comics(and they are being pretty faithful)...it only gets better.

I´ve seen the first episode and so far so good!

Didn't know it was a comic. Despite usually hating zombie stuff (they creep the everliving shit out of me. I think it's an uncanny valley thing), but I tried it out because AMC has very high quality shows (Mad Men, Rubicon, and Breaking Bad are some of the most amazing shows ever). As expected, I don't like it. Ugh, so graphic. I can't handle that. And they...

So, I'm not going to be watching this any more.

I wish I could find a stream of it online cause I don't have AMC but I do read the comics and I have to say, THE BEST zombie comic ever!!! Every turn of the page I have no idea what's gonna happen next and I'm ALWAYS on the edge of my seat!!! You really fall in love with the characters.....and then they die!

I just watched "Guts" last night, and was thinking the same thing. I haven't read that far into the graphic novel yet, but I wasn't impressed with how okay she seemed to be with her current... situation.

I enjoyed the first episode more than the second, but I did enjoy both. I read the graphic novel up until the end of the first episode (or so) and everything went from point A to B the same, but the show was more drawn out. I quite liked that. It'll be interesting to see how the show develops.

One thing I'm really impressed with is the special effects and blood. Only down side, personally, is that I am not liking too many of the latest characters, yet.

The comic? It's okay. At best. Maybe it started on the wrong foot with me since the whole story starts almost exactly like 28 Days Later, but I've read several volumes and it just doesn't float my boat.
Personally, I'd suggest Garth Ennis' Crossed. Instead of everyday zombies, there's a viral outbreak that causes the infected to become complete psychotics. Big roving bands of laughing, murderous rapists with no problem with killing each other as well as infecting their victims.

Well I watched the first episode and it seems good enough. I have the second episode recorded and will probably watch it soon to see if it continues to entertain. I imagine it will as I like stories about post-apocalyptic setting in which people are trying to survive the environment, each other, and themselves.

Haven't read the comics but the show is one of the best things I've seen on TV since The Clone Wars series.

Personally, I'd suggest Garth Ennis' Crossed. Instead of everyday zombies, there's a viral outbreak that causes the infected to become complete psychotics. Big roving bands of laughing, murderous rapists with no problem with killing each other as well as infecting their victims.

I personally consider The Walking Dead to be far superior than Crossed. TWD has a good take on the way the survivors cope with a different world. There´s an enphasis on characterisation and a great sense of pacing, even though it starts a bit slowly. The cliffhangers and plot-twists are remarkable.

Crossed on the other hand, while entertaining, seems like it´s trying too hard to shock its audience. Garth Ennis(one of my favourite writers in the comics medium) usually does that but in a much more entertaining way...books like The Boys,The Pro, Punisher, Just a Pilgrim are far superior IMHO. And of course Preacher is all kind of awesome.His best work to date.

Just out of curiosity, did you reach the prison storyarc of TWD? If not, give it another shot, you might like it. Just my 2 cents, anyway.

But the second episode made me rage really hard. They're already starting to blur the story, plus I saw zombies climbing fences and holding rocks. Really? What next? The zombies learning how to use an M4?

Yeah the learning zombies were bugging me too. Even down to that one that properly climbed the fence after Rick. I at least expected it to just faceplant when it fell. -.-;
Oh and $20 says that Dixon takes the place of The Governor.

Anyway, the beginning of ep 2, seeing Lori whoring around in the grass made me realllllly happy to know what happens to her.

All I'm saying is that the only person CAPABLE of playing the Governor is the magical man Danny Trejo. And they're going to run this series into the ground for me. I'll stick to Kirkman's Comics(Invincibles is great too btw)

I've read the first four of those medium sized books. Like... there's the comic, and then there's the collection of comics, and then there's the collection of the collection, and I've read the first four collections of comics. I need to get around to reading the rest of them, though.

And I saw the first episode of the TV show and I was surprised by how good it was. I'm actually really excited to watch the rest of the show because at the rate it's going it could be one of the best shows on television if it wasn't already.

I never liked her in the comics and now I really dislike here in the tv show. But she is just a means to an end. It's all about Rick after all. Wonder if we'll get a taste of Michonne next season. Boy I hope so.

Though the zombies probably aren't "learning" to climb the fences or hold rocks. They have probably done that some time in their life so the zombies have that memory in the back of their head even if they don't understand it. That sort of stuff doesn't really bother me that much when it's just simple things like climb a fence or hold a rock. A zombie flying a helicopter, now that would be another thing.
