Hello, I just finished the second episode of the walking dead game, and was wondering what your thoughts on it were? I personally felt that it is a vast improvement over the first episode in several ways including in terms of performance. What are your thoughts?

(please no complaints such as no its not an improvement because it is not a third person shooter, or that its not an improvement because it is still essentially point and click)

Was totally considering getting the second episode right away after going through the first one but I haven't heard much about it. Do you really think it's that good? (Note this is me just being curious since I can never find a thread about this game. XD)
It's flown under the radar for most people but I'd HIGHLY recommend it. The dilemma's you get put in during the next episode are just as, if not better, than the ones from the previous episode. Some parts are utterly predictable but during one certain scene I jumped up from my seat and my jaw nearly hit the floor. Get it and join the obnoxiously long wait for the next one.

I've been unable to play Starved for Help a second time (friend's copy), but overall... It was OK, much like the first game. No vast improvement, it just kept the status quo.

When do the other parts come out? Are they monthly releases or something? Like I said before I only got the game yesterday and after finishing it found out part two was available. XD
Supposed to be monthly and have been so far (if just barely) but there's no official release date yet. I only found out about the 2nd being released on it's actual release day.

Well....

...i found the main storyline rather predictable, disappointingly so ("An isolated farm with lots of food, relatively good protection and a kinda weird and secretive, but very kind and welcoming family? I absolutely don't see how there could ever by any downside to that!")...but to be fair, the resolution of that plot was pretty great and led to a IMO extremely clever epilogue that sort of deconstructs a "deus ex machina-type situation" (The empty Car) to great effect.

All in all, i liked the beginning and the end of the episode very much, with the middle dragging out the obvious and inevitable "twist".

Also, there are a lot of great choices, and by great i mean sometimes awful and mostly hard decisions. I like that.

In the end, i am conflicted about whether or not Episode 2 is better than the first one, but either way TWD is shaping up to be my favorite Telltale Series and i can't wait for the next installment.

Btw. the second episode was not monthly. it was supposed to come out in may, so 2 months after episode 1.

The second one was pretty good, like the first one.
I didn't liked how they introduced another character out of the blue from the start and everybody knows him allready and i didn't liked how the "turn" in the story could be seen from miles ahead.

Yeah, the game is only beaten closely by the comics. It towers over the show in terms of quality. Mainly because you actually care about the characters, and they aren't dumbfucks. There's been no "Carl get in the fucking house" or "Goddamnit Lori how can you crash without any people or cars around!" moments. Every character feels like an actual human being, not just a means to an end like in the show.

Also, I agree this second episode was a massive improvement. The first episode was brilliant, but this beat it greatly. The choices were more than just "Choose who dies and survives", and it's amazing actually seeing how your choices and actions in the first episode affected the second episode. For example:

Near the beginning when you have to choose who gets the food or not I didn't give my food to Larry, I gave it to the kids and Kenny. So he got pissed off at me because I had always been a dick to him. I then went through using my other save and gave the same food, but this time I had sided with Larry most of the way. He forgave me!

Bout the same as the first one only played it through once though on my origional FIRST file still have to go over it a couple more times, but you know I was VERY surprised when I played the first one I avoided gettin the bundle cause I was worried it would suck and even though they took longer than they said they would bringing out the second episode I don't mind paying a little extra. Even thought about giving the Jurassic Park one a go but I'm not really into dinosaurs. The only real kinda problem I had was that it took them so long to bring out the second episode I couldn't quite remember all my previous choices from the first one but other than that they fucking aced it in my opinion.

Episode one put you through introductions to characters, and had a few large decisions to make, but they we're always who to save or who not to save. It was never really a moral dilemma, but Episode two fixed that. Every single decision had major moral and practical implications. You didn't just try to save one and not feel guilt because that's the best you could do. You decide who to kill or spare, and who doesn't deserve to live any longer.

Another interesting thing that I ran into in Episode two was how I dealt with Clementine and her view of me. In Episode one I did everything I could to keep her safe and happy, but in Episode two my survival instinct was on overdrive. My decisions weren't clouded by wanting to keep people happy, they were based on what would keep the most people alive and not starving. Case in point:
When dealing with Larry in the locked room, I wasn't thinking about what would keep people happy, or even what the morally right choice was. All I thought about was what would keep the group in order and its members alive.

I just feel that this episode was superior because it made me think about more than the characters I wanted to live, or what was a moral choice. It made me see the bigger picture, that sacrifice was necessary to make sure that less people died, and those that cause those sacrifices to be necessary would pay the same price as those lost.

My plan for this series is to keep one save and play all the way through the five episodes before starting again, so that I maintain the entire experience of watching my decisions haunt me throughout the game.

This is a great improvement over the first one in my opinion. I have no complaints about the first one but this was more suspenseful, action packed and a more interesting story to go with. The only improvement I would suggest is bringing characters from the TV show or books. I'm a big fan of the walking dead and I really did appreciate visiting Hershel's farm and talking to Glenn. Although it did add the major factor of the WD, that if you die you become a walker which I did appreciate. I would have loved to seen Daryl or Michonne, but save the best for last I guess. All in all worth it.

My only real problem with it is the predictable twist. Though one scene did surprise me a bit, unexpected and i never really liked that character anyway just was so shock to see them go like that.

Because of the predictable plot, i have a feeling that some of the choices you made were pure flavoring to nothing (currently these same choices dont ever get heard from again/ignored). Could be wrong in episode 3 but they have more pressing issues at hand anyway so these plot-links may just remain severed.

Just a pet peeve but whenever the "game" tells you something of significant really sucks when it leads up to nothing. (xxx character is suspicious of you).

truly this is the zombie survival horror game that has been needed to be released for a long time.

some games like last stand fill the role slightly, rebuild+2 offered some good new perspective.

but this story driven emotional rollercoaster is just what ive wanted in a game for a long time.

i cant wait to see how the series plays out

While there is certainly truth to that, i don't think it would be better the other way around.

After all, when all your interactions with certain characters and the game doesn't give you any information, you'd pretty much suspect that the character isn't for long.

(...actually, it's probably best if you deactivate those little cues in the option menu altogether, but i'm far too interested in the underlying mechanic to do that)
