Woah, woah, woah. Wait a minute, screw this conversation. You also play Europa Barbarorum!? It's such an amazing mod, one of the greatest I've ever seen.

As for the horse archers, I'm pretty sure they received extensive duties as mercenaries. Horse archers had been in effect for over a millennia before that time period, so I would definitely imagine them having a lot of service for most professional militaries in the east. Though I could be the one who is wrong here. History is far too huge to be right about everything.
