Where's the Warcraft story to go from here? With the latest expansion of World of Warcraft, and the upcoming chance to blow the Lich King Arthas to kingdom-come, what's left?

Arthas is, after all, the big-baddy of the Warcraft milieu, aside from the demonic Burning Legion. What happens when the final boss gets wiped off the face of the lore?

The only thing I can think of is that they'll bring the Burning Legion further to the forefront. Which would be awesome.

But maybe you fine folks can think of something else.

I stopped following it after they retconned the lore to make it so that Sargaras was always evil and he corrupted the rest of the legion.

Who's dead so far? Arthas and Illidan, basically? I guess you could go after Kil'jaden, Sargaras, any of the five dragonflight heads, or they could make up some more crap about space and just draw possibilities from there.

And then there's the caverns of time thing they did, where you could be one the battlefields from the old Warcraft games. They could draw that out a bit more, I suppose.

Know this, as long as there is money, they will find a way.

They've killed Illidan, Arthas is coming, We murder Malygos in the final dungeon... They still have the emerald nightmare to go but other than that I'd guess they'd go after the Old Gods (who fought the Titans back in the day)

You have never TOUCHED Warcraft lore have you? The Prophet in Warcraft 3 is the spirit of Medivh, Archimonde was killed in the detonation of the world tree.

I'm saying as a last resort Arthas made a super powerfull being and sent him back in time to conqure the world A.K.A The Lich King into a paradox...The Lich king created Archimonde and Medivh is The Archmionde after he kills off everything so he goes back in time to save the world Thus completing it.

Put on your green filters, the Ultraguess goes to the denizens of WoW getting wet in the Emerald Dream.

That or the Maelstrom. But i think a nightmare-possesed Malfurion Stormrage would make even a man wearing Arhtas' crotch as a hat shit his epic britches. Not to mention some truly stunning ladnscapes and panoramas to enjoy. Lets face it, the first time you flew into Zangamarsh or looked up from Hellfire your jaw dropped. Imagine a dream-realm.

Now that's WoW'tertainment.

They killed Illidin? WTF. This is why I'm pissed off at World of Warcraft. I don't play it, and by the time Warcraft 4 comes out I'm going to be massively behind in the story. If they kill off Arthas I'm going to throw a hissy fit.

Happened towards the end of Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne. Illidains death is pre-wow lore.

No, he survived the duel with Arthas. One of my friends told me that he was going to be a boss in one of the expansions, and I assumed that he ran away when through a hidden door when you beat him him or something.

Damn, I don't think I said the right name, who was the leader of the Burning Legion before Kil'Jaeden took over?

Seems to me that more than anything else the Old Gods are being set up as the next great Warcraft villains.

If you read the quest and flavor text in Northrend, and pay attention to the overarching story, it seems like in many small ways the Old Gods have had an influence on almost everything. Indeed one of the popular conspiracy theories floating around the WOW forums is that Arthas deliberately provoked the Alliance/Horde attack in Northrend because he was already loosing a battle against the local Old God and needed more bodies for his armies and hopefully to lure the 'adventurers' (me and you!) into fighting the Old God ourselves.

That's probably a bit too sneaky for the Blizzard writers though considering the last couple story arcs they did (Lol space paladins good demons and glowy whindchimes of goodness!)
