Looks like there is hope for the Wii yet:

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=209729

It's like they were saying what all wii owners were thinking but too afraid to admit in public -- at least for me! Personally I think the wii's been getting a real bad reputation as a system only good for shovelware, though there are a few good games here and there, they're like shiny gems lost in a sea of dark, black sewage. I really hope this means that Codemasters are starting a trend, where companies will follow their example and start producing quality products, instead of the usual ports of other games...

Agree or Disagree, tell what you think (just try to keep the flaming to a minimum).

Okay, the wii has its fair share of good games. But this is what nintendo don't get; it's more like a toy than a gaming system.

Also, the only good game that can now be possibly made is Star Fox Wii.

Why does everybody keep saying that?

the only thing the wii lacks is replayability in form of online play.

I hate to get marked as wii fanboy here, but the wii needs a little defense here and there

The Wii is losing it's corebased fans. They are targeting folks who don't understand gaming.

Unless you are a diehard Nintendo fan, you anren't going to be as impressed with it as you would with a Sony, Microsoft, or (hypothetically speaking) Sega product.

God I miss Sega. wish they had a 7th-gen system. Imagine, a Sega "Jupiter" or Sega "Mars" I would like to see another Sonic Adventure, done correctly, and not a crappy Shadow or Sonic the Hedgehog(360/PS3).

I hate to break it to you, but every gaming system is a toy.

Seriously, people need to stop pretending that they're not

Well I use my 360 for games, playing my music (Most of my CDs are ripped to it), as a DVD player, and as a way to stream media off my PC. So I'd say it's practically the center-piece for my media.

I bet PS3 owners could say similar things, especially with the Blue-Ray player added into that mix.

More then a toy.

Maybe not the ONLY good game, but certainly another good one. There will be plenty of new games from Nintendo and other developers, I wouldn't be too quick to make these kinds of assumptions.

I think the Wii still has potential, but there are to many crappy kids games on it. That has been Nintendos problem since the gamecube. Im still overjoyed about Pikmin 3 though!

Even with all those extras, it's key feature is to play games. At its very base, it is a toy.

Well, Chess is quite obviously a toy.

Poker is quite obviously a toy

Get it yet?

Since when has the Wii had to fight back? It's been fighting forward since Nintendo have hypnotised the casual market. Hardcores have got valid reasons to be disappointed at half-assed ports and overwhelming amounts of pink, but remember what Nintendo had to say to hardcores at last E3?

It's fine that one developer says that it's going to code from the floor up, but other devs for hardcore will still remember that the Wii is far weaker in processing and graphics, and they probably won't see good reason to rewrite for a console with a smaller and likely overlapping market share.

Who says there's no online play? Can't you connect the Wii to the internets and play games online with friends? I'd swear that Mario Kart Wii had an online function.

EDIT: Oh, and a quick check shows that it does. (Please don't hate me, yes I own Mario Kart for the Wii.) So if game developers don't choose to support online play on the Wii then it's not Nintendo's fault for not having it there.

I do agree that most of the games out for Wii suck though.

What, the Sega "God of War"? But there really has been an abnormally large amount of crap coming out for the Wii lately. Why can't someone hurry up and come out with a decent game, say, using one of my awesome ideas.

That's what I'm saying. The Wii, along with the PS3 and xbox 360, are all, at their very base, toys. They're different kinds of toys, obviously, but they're still toys

The Pikmin that was announced at E3 wasnt an original game it is a port of the original Gamecube Version, part of Nintendo's new "Enjoy on Wii" Campaign where rather than make new entries in their old franchises they are Shoe-horning in (most likely) half-assed motion controls.

This, in addition to the complete flood of crap games on the shelves leads me to beleive that Nintendo have lost the plot completely.

So without good, original 3rd party support (House of the Dead Overkill, MadWorld, Deadly Creatures) for example because now nintendo have lost it.

if it keeps up at this rate the wii's story will be a bigger, more rapid version of what has happened to Sonic Team

how is the wii selling so well with bad online, bad 3rd party support and a software drought?

i know the 1st party contributions are amazing and the VC is a great start but damn i cant decide if i should just save up for a PS3 or buy a wii, if i can find one
