Out of my wishlist, I may buy Dungeon of the Endless and SuperBrothers: Sword & Sworcery ep but I need a second opinions
I really liked
Dungeon of the Endless It's a mix of a roguelike and a tower defence and I think it strikes a good balance. You basically have a group of characters who can go and fight, but you can also build defensive turrets as well. You would, in fact, probably want to do both, as you need to explore the floor but also each time you open a new room, that triggers a wave of monsters from any unlit room you have. You have a finite amount of dust (which is used to light rooms) as well as fighting power, as such, you would eventually have to manage how and where you would be attacked. You can do a split of some sort - one person stays behind and defends while three rush ahead and open rooms, for example, or whatever and at lower floors that could be enough to get you by but at higher ones, you definitely need extra defences to soften the mobs up or even debuff them.
There is a fair amount of strategy involved, which is cool, since you can also plan ahead - time only "ticks" if you open a door, so as long as you deal with the wave of monsters, you're fine until you open another one. While fighting, though, you can pause and resume which is also good, since fight could become hectic and you may need the extra breather.
There is a little bit of base building thrown in as well (aside from the defences) which I found didn't really distract from the game. When I first heard of it, I wasn't too keen, as I am not much into the base building aspects of games - especially when I am after something else - the roguelike in this case. But it's not too bad - you can build three types of buildings that aren't defences which give you three types of resource - Industry is the resource to build other stuff: Research is for, as the name suggests, researching stuff (more types of defences and higher levels of buildings); and Food is what you use to heal or level up your characters.
Again, overall I liked
Dungeon of the Endless. If you're not much into tower defence, the game probably isn't for you as it follows a TD formula. If you do like games similar to
Sanctum or
Dungeon Defenders or
Deathtrap but want a bit less emphasis on defences and a bit of
FTL: Faster Than Light thrown in, then I can definitely recommend this game.
