So, Santa Gaben has opened his bag of discounts again and 30% off or better snowflakes are falling all over the lawns of the good little games and gamers. My question to you fellow Escapists is this,

That is to say, what games are you waiting to get 50% off or better, and have you got any games already this sale?

Honestly, my own purchase list is kinda dry. I'm thinking of picking up CS GO and Mordheim, and perhaps also... OH MY GOD KOTOR 2 FOR THAT LITTLE!? (RIP wallet. Death by a thousand papercuts)

And because the Steam Sales videos are now a tradition.

Ah dang, Tales from the Borderlands is only 66% (I want it to be 80-90% cos it's rank 1 on my wishlist!)

Out of my wishlist, I may buy Dungeon of the Endless and SuperBrothers: Sword & Sworcery ep but I need a second opinions and my mate (who owned the game) is not on at the moment (I only put that on my wishlist cos I read somewhere that the artstyle is similr to the upcoming game Hyper Light Drifter).

Oh! Maybe Grim Fandango Remastered and Broken Age (big sales on those two)!

I really liked Dungeon of the Endless It's a mix of a roguelike and a tower defence and I think it strikes a good balance. You basically have a group of characters who can go and fight, but you can also build defensive turrets as well. You would, in fact, probably want to do both, as you need to explore the floor but also each time you open a new room, that triggers a wave of monsters from any unlit room you have. You have a finite amount of dust (which is used to light rooms) as well as fighting power, as such, you would eventually have to manage how and where you would be attacked. You can do a split of some sort - one person stays behind and defends while three rush ahead and open rooms, for example, or whatever and at lower floors that could be enough to get you by but at higher ones, you definitely need extra defences to soften the mobs up or even debuff them.

There is a fair amount of strategy involved, which is cool, since you can also plan ahead - time only "ticks" if you open a door, so as long as you deal with the wave of monsters, you're fine until you open another one. While fighting, though, you can pause and resume which is also good, since fight could become hectic and you may need the extra breather.

There is a little bit of base building thrown in as well (aside from the defences) which I found didn't really distract from the game. When I first heard of it, I wasn't too keen, as I am not much into the base building aspects of games - especially when I am after something else - the roguelike in this case. But it's not too bad - you can build three types of buildings that aren't defences which give you three types of resource - Industry is the resource to build other stuff: Research is for, as the name suggests, researching stuff (more types of defences and higher levels of buildings); and Food is what you use to heal or level up your characters.

Again, overall I liked Dungeon of the Endless. If you're not much into tower defence, the game probably isn't for you as it follows a TD formula. If you do like games similar to Sanctum or Dungeon Defenders or Deathtrap but want a bit less emphasis on defences and a bit of FTL: Faster Than Light thrown in, then I can definitely recommend this game.

I bought Epilepsy Dash with card money. It's true to its name.

I don't really want/need any new games now. I even got AoE II HD from a non-event sale some time ago.

I'm in less of a rush to check out the sale with this new system. I had a quick look this morning and noticed a few games in my Wishlist had decent discounts, so I'm sure I'll pick up a few things.

Hm... there are a lot of good games.

I might re-buy some. I mean Jedi Knight I for 90 cents, Jedi Knight II for 2. Loved those games. Problem is: i KNOW i will install them, play them for half an hour and get my nostalgia-fix, then never touch them again. Happened too often.

I did buy Pillars of Eternity though. Still not dirt-cheap. but ~15 Euroes seems very fair for a good game.

God, the longer i scroll through the stuff... ok, when i am off work i might be spending quite some time to "enrich" Valve. Too bad i already own so many good games already and can't buy them again, hehe.

Got witcher 3, been waiting on that one to go on sale, and I missed in on the thanksgiving one. Also got dark souls 2 sins of the scholar so I could try the DLC without paying out the ass for it all individually, and a couple smaller games so far. Looking at metal gear 5 rather hungrily too, though I might just try to hold out and see if fallout 4 goes on sale at all. Figure a 10-15% might be possible there. Backlog keeps me busy and a few months behind on a lot of games, but damn do I want to play that one.

*looks at wishlist* <url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txuWGoZF3ew>Dylan, you son of a *****!

OT: Hmmmmm... Might [finally] get some Peggle, some Pac-Man, some Hotline Miami, some Castle Crashers, and especially some Strania if my wallet is not one the wiser...

Other than that, if only I was one level higher in order for me to care [more] about that "North Pole Noir Sale" meta shit...

Addendum Edit (1/5/2016 12:07AM PST): So, this is what I picked up during the Steam sale: PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX+ All You Can Eat Edition Bundle (via an unactivated Steam key that I bought 5 months prior, forgot I had it, and almost re-bought the game without realizing that I still had said Steam key in the first place...)Peggle DeluxePeggle Nights Strania - The Stella Machina -Hotline MiamiHotline Miami SoundtrackUndertale SoundtrackLethal League (given to me as a gift)Ittle Dew Sakura Fantasy Chapter 1Ys I & II Chronicles+ (aka Port-ception aka the port of the port I already own on PSP...)Ys OriginSakura Fantasy Chapter 1 (as a pending gift for a friend's upcoming birthday...)HuniePop Deluxe Edition (as a pending gift for a friend's upcoming birthday...)Ittle Dew (as a pending gift for a friend's upcoming birthday...)It's the third most games bought over a set period of time... and the PS2 post-180GB PS3 slim purchase can vouch for that... :p

Well, I found out that Broforce is on sale for 50% off and decided to give that glorious pile of testosterone and bullets a go.

(MARK 4 STYLE ************!)

P.S. Yes I know it's Blood Dragon but it's PERFECT for Broforce...

I just got Hand of Fates as a gift for my brother. In exchange he's (well, he'd effin better) gonna get me XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

I wish they'd announce these things ahead of time. I was just about to buy HoF at full price before deciding to Google and check if there were any last minute Steam Sales happening around Christmas. Turns out there was.

I'm unlikely to buy much if anything this time. I'm trying to cut down on my game purchasing and I have a strange hankering for the Star Wars games (installed!) for some strange reason...

I am interested in Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star and the new expansion Don't Starve though.

The regular sales were extremely kind too me that past few months and I haven't played half of them yet, so I probably shouldn't buy too much. Maybe just a few games. The deals on games in my wishlist are looking a little lackluster (lots of 33-50%, even on the older ones), but maybe I'll stumble onto some weird thing that's like 59 cents and turns out to be the most amazing thing I played this year.

BTW You know how you can earn holidays cards by going through those recommendation lists? Good lord, those lists are terrible. Steam keeps recommending me games that will make my laptop die a slow, painful death. The poor thing is having panic attacks just looking at the system requirements for Just Cause 3. I wonder if there's a way to filter out all the games I can't run and turn those lists into something Steam, game companies and me could all benefit from...

You shall not be disappointed.

Right now, I have Black Mesa (50% off) and Undertale (20% off) in my cart. I'm not really sure if I want Black Mesa, but I probably will get Undertale. I was also looking at MGS5 (33% off). I'm not a MGS fan, and I heard the game was a bit of a disappointment, but I think it would be worth a discounted go. Will likely pass this time around though, and wait for a 50%+ deal.

All in all, I seem to be coming out of this sale pretty good, compared to previous Steam sales were I dumped 60+ dollars.

Why is that? Tense atmosphere?
because it details every single ship used in the pacific and tracks every single pilot for instance. every hex is 40 miles , and every turn is a single day. so there are 1500+ turns. if you can win a campaign on realistic mode you probably were in charge of the actual pacific theatre in ww2

they just go nuts with detail to a degree that no other game ever has and i was stupid enough to buy it haha
