For the 3rd year in a row im off to Eurogamer in September, however unlike last year i will be taking the train which means a long time traveling.

Being primarily a console gamer, i only ever play WoW and Rift on my PC and dont have masses of experience when it comes to PC/Laptop hardware. Im in the market for a good spec gaming laptop for around £500-£700. Being a massive RPG fan, i want to find one that will easily run the new Witcher 2, along with the likes of TES and Dungeon Siege for examples.

Any suggestions or pointers would be much appreciated.

For roughly $1000 US dollars? That's stretching it for a laptop. You won't be able to run these games on high settings, that I can assure you. Being a Canadian person, I wouldn't have any idea where to shop for laptops in your region.

Know any British computer/pc parts sites I can check out? I'll browse around to find the best one in your price range for you. All the pc sites I know of are in America, and I imagine the shipping will be a ***** :p

edit: As Zer said, finding a laptop that can run TW2 on anything but low or medium settings for that price will be a minor miracle, but it will almost certainly be able to run it.

Not gunna happen. Only the most powerful laptop GPU's are even handling this game on medium settings. You need $1800 to get something that has a chance at high.

Was looking at the new Alienware M14x at £1110 (the base model from Dell). Would this be up to the task?
It might run TW2 on medium. To be honest, I've not seen how well it runs on lower end hardware, but apparently it runs well. For pre-built laptop,s Alienwares are pretty good, unlike their desktops.
