I got around 10 hours into TW2 and I just couldn't go on anymore. I really can't even comprehend how people are saying this is the best RPG in a decade. I went and played Mass Effect for the 30th time, and I was reminded of all the things I hate about The Witcher 2. Perhaps it was just the area I was in:
It got very tiresome after the 3rd or 4th hour of doing that. I may pick it back up now that I can move on from that area, but I'm having a difficult time convincing myself that it will be more entertaining than yet another playthrough of Mass Effect.
I actually quite like the combat in TW2, and the story is fairly good, but everything in between the story and combat is just terrible in my opinion. Too much unnecessary traveling and the interface is very clumsy.
The forests outside of Flotsam are ridiculously monotonous and the quest design is very clumsy. Go here, kill this, come back. Go back out there, find these hard-to-find anthills, blow them up, come back. Go back out there, talk to these guys, come back... etc.
