So, there's a The Witcher 2 apparently.

What do you want to see improved for the sequel?

Personally, I really hope they put the story through a few more rewrites this time. The first one had a lot of potential, but there were too many rough edges and too many themes that were just thrown out at one point or another without being developed.

Also, the really need to fix the dialog scripts so that the conversations have some coherence this time.

I'm going to going to guess it'll be out fall 2010. Sooner would be nice because i want to play it so much.

Oh, are they releasing a Witcher 2? I hope it's release date is sometime in 2020, because that's about the time I'll be done playing Witcher 1.

In all seriousness, though, good for them. Unlike most of gamerhood I'm usually glad when a sequel for a bad game comes out, because there's always about a 30% chance that the developers will have given the game a complete overhaul and fix all the errors of the previous game while keeping anything that made the first game fun.

Of course, this usually never happens.

But with regards to Witcher 2, I look forward to it. I saw hidden potential in Witcher 1 that was forcibly drowned in a pool of fetch-quests, among other things. So maybe with this game they'll liven the combat up a bit, cut down on some fetch quests, and the game will be a decent fantasy RPG.

Ditch the horrible inventory system, come up with a quest system that doesn't make me think of World of Warcraft ("This is a MUMORPUGER!"), ease up on some of the more ridiculous "read the manual or get lost" game mechanics, and basically do everything else that Yahtzee suggested CD Projekt do to the first game, because I think he absolutely nailed that review.

Ugh I had a love hate thing going on with the Witcher at first but it was just such a drudgery and the bad points were really overpowering. For one if your going to dump shitloads of fetch quests on me have either a decent quest log or minimap cant count hoe long I spent getting lost, entering different houses or backtracking by memory it fucking sucked. Better, deeper combat, more weapon variety (would it kill you to add a freaking bow?) More item variety (and more effective equipment) the choice between armour upgrades #1 or #2 towwards the end wasnt exactly enthralling, nor was axe youll never use 1 or 2?

More combat, dear god more combat even if it was awful one fight every three four hours of fetch questing or talking to random people was not enough, those rare fights in between broke up the monotamy and reminded me I was playing a game rather than doing my bills.
