Anyone else excited about this news?

Sounds like it has a lot of hype starting for it, but if it's anything like the first two, I think they can pull it off (or, mostly).

(Forgive me if something about this has already been posted, just stumbled across it)

No QTEs is good. It was pretty disappointing to have the ending of a boss fight be decided by those rather than, you know, the normal game mechanics. Having it be open world is kind of ehhh. On the continuum of freedom vs focus, I lean more towards focus. I'm worried they might be getting too much feature creep. It reminds me of the last two Assassin's Creed games. Yeah, cool minigames can be fun. But they shouldn't take too much attention away from the core experience.

More incentive to finish my copy of numero dos. Then I just need to snap up the first one on a steam-sale.

I pray to all the gods for mod tools. The mod community would be able to come up with some epic mods for this game.

The original is on sale on Steam and GOG right now.

I'm excited to hear that it's going to be open world as I found the first two games to be kinda restrictive, the second somewhat annoyingly so. I never got a good sense for the world because the environments were so small and disconnected. Just hoping they don't go overboard on trying to fill it with content at the expense of said content's quality, like Skyrim did.

I'm skeptical about the open world component. Very few games have ever managed to pull off having an open world AND having a good story after all. Still hopefully CDProjekt can pull it off, I just hope they aren't getting overly ambitious. This is only their third game after all.

I'm curious as to how CD Projekt RED will handle both this and Cyberpunk 2077. They're both very ambitious games and RED are a pretty new developer. Then again, they've apparently been working on Witcher 3 for a while and they're planning to release it on consoles as well, so who knows.

Also, 2014 and 2015 are a huge long way away. We'll see.

That said, I'd rather have them be ambitious and fail than be another safe studio. I just hope that they can fix the mechanical and accessibility problems with the previous Witcher games while still making them deep and engaging. The world of the Witcher seems really interesting, but the previous games really made it tough to explore it.
