Guys,

Just playing through the Witcher Enhanced version at the moment and i must say i am finding it hard to put down and this is due to one change that has made the game more accessable which is............(drum roll) The Loading Times!!! Beforehand i found myself making a cup of tea while changing location but now i can barely pick my nose and it has loaded!

Thoughts on the changes? Any favourites? Still think it sucks? etc etc

Hmm never picked the enhanced version...The Witcher orginal represents everything that makes RPG not attractive to other people. Long load times, a menu for everything etc etc etc.

I've got witcher enchanced. Never played the Original, but friends of mine who have say the game is vastly improved. Load times are much shorter now, I guess, and the dialogue's been cleaned up and makes more sense, from what they tell me.

I like it a lot.

I played it awhile back, maybe made it about halfway through (or maybe not I'm not sure how long the game is). I like the game a good deal, and I plan to come back to it someday, it's just that my gaming time is limited these days, and most of the time I do have I end up playing multiplayer games with my buds.

I like the way they treated alchemy in this game, playing on hard doesn't necessarily make the game really that much harder, but simply adds more depth to the game in the form of alchemy. I think lots of games could benefit through systems like this, however I did find myself at times having to grind herbs and kicking myself in the pants thinking of how much time I could have saved if i didn't have to rely on potions so much.

I like how they did the open-ended quest decisions, however having played several of the scenarios I've come to find that there almost always is a "correct" answer, because the reward for one decision usually greatly outweigh those of the other outcome. Because of this, I've found myself saving before important decisions and playing them over again choosing both choice to make sure I made the right decision, and I find that a bit tedius. I guess I could play the whole game through one way and then play it again the other, but my insecurities on how I might be playing the game poorly keep me from doing that.

I'm also not a fan of the boss fights. I can't even remember how many times I died fighting the "Beast" boss fight. I used every potion and oil in my arsenal and still died a million times due to some mishap with my healer getting killed.

If you have played through the game, I just got to the part where I have to choose between leading the elven rebels into battle, or helping the crusaders from the town. I'm not sure which side to choose, as I like them both. Anyone have any suggestions on which produces the better outcome?

Also, relevant to the original post. Yes, the enhanced edition is vastly improved from the original, which is saying alot as I liked the original a good deal. But the combat seems a bit smoother, the dialogue is better, the menus (especially the inventory) has been greatly improved, and yes the load times as well have been reduced. All and all, it allows the witcher to reach its full potential as a great game imo.

I've played them both. The enhanced version truly is enhanced. Inventory is a lot more organized, laoding times are slashed, some extra missions and i think you can even make your own levels. For a game that got rave reviews its first time around the enhanced version feels like a 100% truly polished finished product :D

I chose to help the Elves, because the Crusaders are a bunch of racist bigots, and I found that most of the 'pure' humans also treat Geralt with disdain, like he's subhuman because he's a Witcher.

I felt more of a affinity with the Elves and Dwarves etc, and emphasised with their plight.

Although I found the Elves a bit aloof and arrogant, and am always suspicious of 'freedom fighters', I couldn't abide by the racist views of the Crusaders and quite enjoyed seeing them get their comeuppance at the hands of some 'inferior subhumans'.

Yeah but I really like that one guy who helped you in the sewers (can't remember his name but he's leading the crusaders). He's been nice to Geralt throughout the entire game, and on top of that, I believe I still have a quest I need to turn in for him.

The elves I've met have all been arrogant asshats. They're like californian elves. Story aside though, which do you think is better as fara s reward goes?

As I hear it, even the apparently "right" choices in The Witcher come back to bite you in the ass.

In other news, the books are great, go and read them.

I don't have a good enough computer to play any game but I'm waiting for The Witcher Rise Of The White Wolf to come out for the 360.

I played the first 2 chapters on the original edition, and picked up on chapter 3 with the enhanced. The load times are much faster, but that wasn't my big problem with the original. All the dialog in the old version seemed to be recorded by tired actors in a small, hard walled room. No matter where the speech is supposed to take place, it always sounded like you were in a small room.

That is completely fixed in the EE, it is most certainly improved!

I played the original for awhile, but when I got wind there's an enhanced version coming along, I put it on hold.

I have to say, it was ever so good of CD Projekt to allow people who have bought the original to download the enhanced version for free, and not charge expansion price or something. I get the feeling someone like EA would have done just that.

Yeah, I totaly agree with you but as we all know there will always be humans, so I'm with the elves mate. Plus like *Jamash* said : I chose to help the Elves, because the Crusaders are a bunch of racist bigots, and I found that most of the 'pure' humans also treat Geralt with disdain, like he's subhuman because he's a Witcher. But still you should still stick to the rule : you have to be neutral for the best result. Both of the two sides are doing something wrong so i stick with neutral :).

I didn't know you could stay neuteral. My game literally forced me to pick a side, I ended up siding with the elves unintentionally. AFter that I lost my hooker access in the temple quarter. :(

I never played the original, but I have the enhanced edition and while end-of-semester crunch time has stopped me from playing it I have to say that it is one of the greatest video game experiences I've had in years.

I disliked The Witcher. I found it was a highly pretentious RPG that, by the standards of most RPGs out there, was severely limited. It was linear, by the numbers, and gave no real scope for character creation.

Picked up the original Witcher the day it came out and played about half-way through. I had some serious freezing issues, and pretty much experienced every bug the original had to offer. LOVED the Enhanced version, not only because of the fixes made to the crashes, inventory, and dialog trees, but because of the little bits here and there that showed they really spent the time to make it better! A good example is the initial game screen; instead of a screenshot background, they added little vultures slowly circling. Brilliant! Well worth the price, and finally deserves the awards it won with the first ed., which I think were a little premature.
