I'm thinking about getting it, anyone already got it?

What system are you running it on? How does it run?

And most importantly is it any good?

Cheers.

It's a great game...it did run badly but the fix has mostly helped out...the loadingscreen is a bit nasty if you wander in a small building and have to get out through another loading screen....but mostly it's great fun.....Geralt's my hero!

I got a decent insight into the game from this thread:

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=35220&start=0

I've got it an played the beginiing - too much work to spend alot of time on it right now. I really look forward to progessing further though!

The combat is interesting, i've not seen a game that works quite like it. Alot more fun than the clickclickclick of TESIV (Oblivion), but more involved that the simple click and watch of the likes of BG.

The story is engaging, the characters interesting. Its alot grittier than alotof games i have played, though i wish i spoke Polish because apparantly is nto a very faithful translation. :)

Overall i would recommend it because the prologue is fun and apparantly it gets alot better as it goes on.

Load times on my A64 3700+ with 2 gig ram are about 20 to 30 seconds - some people complain of times alot larger than this but i don't know their specs.

Hell of a nice game, I say!

My biggest issue is with the absurdly long loading times, although it has been said that they will indeed be fixed with the next patch (that will probably be released in about two weeks time). If you're into compelling stories and adult settings this might be the one.

I run the game on a P4 HT 3,2 Ghz; 2 gigs RAM and a single 8800 GTS and it works like a charm on the highest settings.

By the way, the combat system which Lightbulb has written about reminds me quite a lot of the one on Gothic II.

The Witcher is great fun. The loading times can be frustrating, but I've not experienced the murderous, over a minute loads some people are dealing with. I'm not sure what the issue is, but a lot of people seem to think it depends on RAM.

The combat is definitely different from most CRPGs. The only thing I can compare it to is Phantasy Star Online in that it is action oriented, but you have to time your attacks rather than frantically mash the mouse button as fast as you can.

Interestingly, you can play either in an isometric view like old school CRPGs, or an over the shoulder view somewhat similar to Resident Evil 4. Though I'm a huge fan of old isometric CRPGs I feel the OTS view works better for the Witcher.

There is definitely a lot of moral ambiguity in the game, and you're asked to make decisions without knowing which is the lesser evil. That is awesome for some people, but might also be a turn off for others.

So do you reckon I'll be able to run it on my rig?

Specs:
Intel Core 2 x2 @ 2.40ghz each (Total processor power- 4.80ghz)
2GB RAM
Windows Vista 32 Bit
Radeon X1600 with 512mb

I'm going to be upgrading my graphics card in the near future, but will I at least be able to play with decent quality with my current setup? Any help appreciated fropm the guys who are already happily playing ^*^

Well, you should have no problems running the game. Latest patch notes suggest 1024*768 and medium settings -which look perfectly fine anyway-.

However you can take a look at the system requirements on the official website. [http://www.thewitcher.com/community/en/game/system_requirements.html].
