Seriously, couldn't they have shown a modicum of class and portrayed DC's and Marvel's strongest women without blatantly showing off nipples?

I'm old enough that I wouldn't want my young niece to have a calender of these pictures of super-heroines because they're pure fan-boy service.

*sighs*

I guess it's back to Katniss from The Hunger Games.

Wow these are pretty cool. Batgirl and Venom are probably my two favourites but they all look good.

Holy nipple fixation Batman! I'm not saying I'm offended (quite the opposite, really), but after fourth or fifth picture, something in my head started screaming "enough with the nipples!".

Gentle reminder that artistic nudity is a thing and this falls under that. You can have women be naked without sexualizing them and even then, open sexuality can be something to be celebrated instead of looked down on.

I can't bear this disapointment, why is Batgirl being portrayed by a brunette? Time to rewatch the 1960s batman series.

These photos are visually striking and pretty neat from a technical standpoint. But I can't help feeling like this is a collection of weirdly specific fetish porn.

I've already heard about this studio before. They actually create the splash effect by pouring cold, colored milk over the models, not paint. The models are topless because clothing messes up the flow of the liquid. And that explains the prominent nips, I guess.

Pretty cool pieces of art. I've seen the body paint art before, but the splatter look is really neat and gives a bit more life to the idea. Poison Ivy looks especially cool. In the end, a pretty awesome use of the female form and the super heroine aesthetic.

Ditto. The concept is interesting and some of the images are undeniably beautiful but in execution all of the hard nipples and thrust-chest poses just start to become very questionable. One might be OK. 13 and it's just too much. And for the one I'd still prefer it if the aureole wasn't clearly visible and the nipples weren't so hard they look like they could cut glass.

Also: the day that you can see the texture of a superhero's ball-sack I will agree that men and women in comics are treated the same. But right now I think it's pretty clear that the women are far more sexualized than the men. And it's pretty exhausting when you're trying to find something that your niece can enjoy without wading through tits and ass to get there.

Nice pictures nice boobs, but am I the only one thinking that some or even most of these "splashes" are clearly impossible to create no matter what kind of sprinkler system these people have used? Is it multiple digital layers composed on top of each other or what?

Who's nr 7? Is that Batwoman? Looks like a female Venom? I'm guessing there's been one of those at some point?!

Also, 11 doesn't connect for me.

I'm thinking Vemom too,but from what I recall he was a male. Not sure as I've lost track of many comics after time when I shifted over to manga. As for 11; Emma Frost seems to be the consensus.Just to be fair they should do this for some male characters. Bats and Supes wouldn't turn out to bad. I wonder how they could pull off Wolverine or Mr Fantastic.

Hey, thanks! Explains the diamond-tipped nipples too!

My problem is that with the post processing and viscosity of the paint they look like bad photoshops, so, regardless of how technically difficult that must all be, if it ends up looking like a bad photoshop, why not just save yourself the cleaning bill and photoshop?

Also, bit sexist all being women, there's iconic male characters they could've done as easily (so long as they did the Buffalo Bill tuck I guess)..

No, it's not. It's a collection for a single calendar. Even if you were going to do a second, all-male photo shoot it would be stupid to combine the two, because there is going to be very little overlap in the audience for the two.

Jesus Christ. They're making outfits out of fucking liquid and people are hung up on the fact that liquid shows nipples?

I can't hand on heart say I am much of a fan of the whole "painted on" style, but I do appreciate the creative talent displayed here. Also interesting takes on a couple of characters, had to do a few double-takes before I could work out who everyone was.
