It's a wonder what the distance of a few months can do to our perspective. What I'm asking here is whether or not you've changed your opinion majorly on anything you've seen or experienced in the last 12 months. Was there a movie you hated initially, but slowly came around towards? Or vice versa, maybe? Was there a game you didn't want to play, but once you tried it out, you ended up loving it? Anything like that.

I, for example, hated Watchmen when I saw it, but looking back I can't remember why or come up with a good reason to justify continuing my ire towards it.

Also? Lady Gaga. Yeah. Believe it or not, that last video she put out, "Bad Romance"? Probably the most entertaining music video I've seen in years.

On the flip side, months ago I was stoked to play Modern Warfare 2. Now? I get nauseous just thinking about it, the same way you get after eating a week of pizza and then someone asking who's up for Domino's; it's been that overhyped and beaten to death.

Fixed for me. Domino's pizza sucks.

In hindsight, Amnestic+Facial hair=worst idea ever. Do not want.

I lost faith in democracy again. I thought senators could get things done with a super majority.

I didn't think Shadow of the Colossus would be a good game.

"What is this? Only 16 enemies? Bullshit!"

Then my head exploded from the awesomeness.

I think Obama sucks and a Democratic Congress is about as useful as a condom with a hole in it.

Seriously, never voting for them again. Wimps.

Also, Little Big Planet... had no idea it would be that great. I love that game.

"MAss Effect? It'll be a good game. I want it. It won't compare to Knights of the Old Republic, though."

*10 months later*

"I want Mass Effect 2! Seriously, Mass Effect is my favorite Bioware game, and Mass Effect 2 is going to be even better! Tali is awesome!" *gets dragged off and beaten by KOTOR purists*

In the spirit of keeping things light, I'll just say that both Batman:AA and X-Men Origins have made me believe in superhero games again. I wasn't just skeptical, I damn near hated them before I'd played them. I was happily wrong this time.

Eh, not really, man. I had one time where I was alright with cole slaw, but that was just a phase. I hate the stuff and I'm usually right about the choices I make.

I always thought that dating a friend was one of the worst things you could ever do, but I decided to ask her out and our nine month anniversary will be on Christmas.

I was wrong about MW2. I thought it would be complete shit. Then, my brother bought it, I played it and I thought it was pretty fun.

I can't really say I've had any of these epiphanies. The closest thing that comes to mind was when I was going to go to a Rammstein concert but feared the audience would suck (I prefer small unknown bands and have bad experiences with audiences of well-known bands). Somewhere in the back of my head I knew that if I'd get over my anxiety and just went to enjoy the concert it would end up being kick-ass - it's been that way for nearly all my previous concerts anyway. In hindsight, I was right in that my anxiety was wrong and the concert ended up being completely awesome.

Edit: Oh, perhaps this would count: I've always had a certain 'dislike' for the Gears of War series. Not that I specifically hated them, but I thought they were dime a dozen games everybody thought to be awesome in the same category as Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, you name it. When a pall invited me to play the game in co-op I realized that while what Yahtzee said about the main characters in his review about GoW was extremely true, it was still a damn good game and possibly the best shooter I've played in a couple of years.

12 months ago I was a major Xbox 360 fan boy. Soon after I sold my Xbox 360 and bought a PS3. I still like the 360 but the PS3 line up looked more appealing to me.

I won't bother going into details but I went to alice sprngs for a week with some friends and had some life changing experiences which did change my view on several topics. Amazingly, stuff DOES happen over there.
