I'm gonna be supporting this purely out of the large amount of respect I have for the ManeSix Dev Team and Lauren Faust for keeping this game's idea alive, and showing that their dedication to making this quadrupedal fighting game didn't lie solely with the show it was inspired by. Also, while Hasbro probably couldn't give less of a toss, the bitter, vengeful side of me will take an almost unnecessary joy in seeing this game become mad successful in spite of the C&D bullshit, and hell, maybe even because of it (since bronies are looked upon about as favorably as child molesters these days, its potential success might have been marred by its content).

Although, at the same time, I'll be helping fund, purchasing and playing this game with a bit of a heavy heart. Unfortunately, I can't help but still want the original characters, music and voice acting that was promised. *sigh*... Oh, well. It is what it is, I guess.

It does me good to see that many in this thread share my sentiment of missing the old characters, as selfish as it probably sounds. I'm actually kinda surprised, in fact. If I remember correctly, when the C&D news first came about, the initial anger the news induced was quickly drowned out by a general consensus of "Psht, good. The content was stolen anyway". I wonder what changed....

Wasn't the general idea that they just go ahead and make the game with their own characters then after release if someone decides to mod in the original show characters they wouldn't be entirely outraged by the situation?

Wait, a 2D Fighting game which can use mods? I never hear about that [well, except Mugen I guess].
So in other words, maybe "someone" can use the sprites of their previous attempt to emulate the characters of MLP show?
How can it be work?

I'm pretty oblivious to the hows and whats of modding, so I couldn't explain if it's an easy job or an impossibility the person was hoping to achieve, but I do recollect someones reaction to the C&D being "then I'll mod them back in when you're done".

All I do know for sure is there's little to match the drive and talent of some modders.
If the people talking about that mod at the time are those kinds of modders, they'll find a way.

Looks good to me, I still would have preferred being able to dominate everyone with Rarity. But this is still something new, I can't remember a game where you played as a 4 legged creature besides deer god.

The most well-known game I can think with a 4-legged animal, is Okami and Escape Goat. I am pretty sure they are more, but now my mind fail me to remember.

Oh yeah, I cant believe I forgot Okami. There is also Full Boar, but outside of indie games, Okami is the only one.

I'm not into the whole MLP thing, I watched the first few episodes and it was ok, not bad and I can see how some people would like it so much but it wasn't for me. But since I love fighting games i'll give it a go if it's not badly priced. Hell if people managed to make a really good fighting game out of Umineko No Naku Koro Ni (two fighting games out of it actually,) a game that is a fuckin' murder mystery Kinetic Novel, I see no reason why they can't make an MLP fighting game.

Man I wish more people played the Umineko fighting game... They actually managed to pull off the feel of a typical Umineko Red/Blue Truth argument in fighting game form and it's a genuinely unique 2v2 fighter even if you've never played the original games.

Btw, it obvious by looking looking at the main characters which MLP ponies represent each:

- Arizona represent Applejack
- Velvet represent Rarity
- Paprica represent Pinkie Pie
- Oleander represent Twilight Sparkle
- Pom represent Fluttershy
- ??? represent Rainbow Dash?

Now I am very curious if the developers reach their goal and the next step is to put more character in the game [like a Pegasus represent Rainbow Dash obviously].

If you decide to try again with MLP, you might want to skip the first few episodes since those are some of the weakest. In fact, while there is some story continuation, for the most part each episode is its own thing till season 3 and 4. But the show gets stronger and stronger the further you go.

Nah, no way. If the developers want to bring the spiritual successors of MLP main cast, they must be 6 characters. Maybe the 6th character is a vegetarian reptile or something.
Except of course I am wrong and it is indeed a predator.

Well, the 6th character is Tianhuo and she is a Longma: A mythical creature which is both Dragon and Horse.
Ok, I dig the idea. I hope she have some Fire BOOM moves.

The next character will be as far I know a goat with the ability to wall-jump like Vega. I hope to reach this goal.
