I am pleasantly surprised. The average of pokemon I think look cool is about the same for this generation (barring starters obviously).

As many people here have said there are some good ones (like the sea turtles) but most of them dont really look like pokemon they look like digimon now...

Im not blinded by nostalgia Im just posting what I think honestly, and besides I stopped playing pokemon by the 3rd gen cuz I realized they woulnt stop making new pokemon and I would never catch them all :(

So Im just moving on to pimpemon now :p

i was thinking about a way to do something like that a bit back, it'd make a lot of moves more useful too. If you made the speed stat a bigger part of the game... imagine poke'mon have a speed bar that fills at a speed proportional to their speed stat, like the rogue in wow or if you've played crono trigger a lot more like that. Then each individual move uses up a cretin amount of speed. The lighter less powerful attacks would use less speed, like fury swipes, and the stronger attacks would use more speed, like fire blast or hyper beam.I think a change like this could add a lot to the game, though it would require you to go back through all the moves and assign a speed value.

*EDIT* actually the system would most accurately be explained as a hybrid rogue energy/crono trigger system.

**EDIT** forgot to quote the guy, not sure how to add it but he was talking about adding more depth to poke'mon and or making the old ones actually decent instead of having 30 or 40 powerhouses.

***EDIT***

Now that's a lot of pokemon. Having said that, I would rather they expanded the move-set and the capabilities of existing pokemon. I know that pokemon can be considered "deep" by many players who do things like min/maxing and stat analysis and EV values and all that stuff, but instead of just making MORE pokemon, couldn't they instead focus their efforts at making the world a bit deeper?
I agree to a certain extent. Instead of making 200 new Pokemon, 90% of which will be useless, why not focus on improving some of the underused pokemon, such as Raichu, most of the Bug pokemon, or some others from Generations 1-3? Surely it'd be better design for every pokemon to at least be decent, instead of the way it is today where you have ~30-40 very powerful Pokemon like Starmie and Garchomp, and then 450 either marginal or downright bad pokemon that never see any real use.

Then expand the movesets a little bit. No need to do too much in this area, since there's already a hell of a lot in the game, but some pokemon that have extremely good stats just don't have the movepool to be viable. Moltres was a great example before this last generation.

Finally, perhaps make the EV/nature system a little more transparent and easier to understand. For people who take the game seriously, it's not that difficult, but no one would argue that it isn't clunky and unintuitive. I'd like a better way to EV train my pokemon other than fighting 500 Gyarados in a row.
there we go, i'm happy now

****EDIT**** you know what? lets just use the guild wars energy system and call it a day.
ok... NOW i'm happy... :)

I am a pokemon-lover ever since red and black but I must say.... they are starting to kinda go overboard finally. Don't get me wrong, I like a couple but some are just pushing the pokemon boundaries.

Are we sure that these aren't Digimon? Because they look remarkably like Digimon and are named like Yu-gi-oh monsters, and that one thing does look like a fetus. Pokemon as a game series and a tv series died after they left the second region.

Well....fuck. Looks like my 280 collected Pokemon just became a whole lot less significant. *sighs, then returns to trying to catch them all.*

They aren't extremely awful this time around, but why the hell are there two wearing karate gees and one carrying a damned I-Beam?

I think they look alright, some of them are starting to look a little two human though, more humanoids than any ideration, and humaniod ones tend to be creepy.

Yeah, I don't feel like even skimming all the pages to see if someone also mentioned this, so if I'm just retreading... whatever.

#635 - Sazando: IT'S FCUKING KING GIDORAH! Yeah, the most bad-ass monster villain in the Godzilla universe, he's now a Pokemon. But that's not all...
#637 - Urugamosu: IT'S FCUKING MOTHRA! Okay, yes, that one is a stretch, but after having JUST seen Gidorah, you'll forgive my overactive imagination.

That said, the rest are... hit and miss. I for one am still kinda disappointed with Game Freak for making three fire/fighting starters in a row. Even the description provided is just... weak. According to Serebii.net: "Big Fire Pig Pokemon... It grows a beard of flame. It learns fighting type attacks that combine its speed and power." Laaaaaaaaaame.
On the other hand, the water and grass starters look and sound so immensely bad-ass. Now that I think about it, it's almost like Game Freak is actively trying to make the fire starter seem less desirable. Still, looking forward to some seriously bad-ass pokemon, this generation.
